|a استقصي هذا البحث صورة المجتمع في المقامات اللزومية للسرقسطي من خلال تحليل محتوى النص حسب المنهج الاجتماعي متدرجاً من ماهية المقامات إلى أهم الدلالات الاجتماعية في النص، ثم التصوير الفني للمجتمع، الذي يهدف إلى استبصار الجذور الواقعية في المقامات اللزومية، ومن ثم إرهاصات فن القصة القصيرة في المقامات اللزومية، وقد ناقش الفصل الأول مفهوم المصطلح اللغوي ومراحل تطور دلالته إلى أن وصل إلى دلالته الأدبية المتعارف عليها ثم ناقش هذه الدلالة الأدبية في محاولة للتقدم خطوة في فهم جنس المقامة الأدبي، ثم عرج البحث إلى المقامات اللزومية محاولا رصد التطور الذي أحدثته في جنس المقامة على مستوى البنية والماهية، وقد لاحظ البحث أن هناك رؤية رئيسة تسطع في مجموع المقامات وهي ظاهرة التناقضات السلوكية في الشخصية العربية، والبحث يمثل تحليلاً لأداء السرقسطي في عرضه لتلك الدلالات الاجتماعية وعلاقة هذا الأداء بجذور المدرسة الواقعية في الفن.
