لم تتسم أبحاث المستشرقين في مجال التفسير بالعمق العلمي، بل غلب عليها السطحية والجهل بأصول البحث في أصول التفسير، وظهر فيها أثر خلفياتهم العدائية للإسلام، حيث يصور المستشرقون الفرق المنحرفة والخارجين عن الإسلام المثل الأعلى للإسلام، وينسبون آراءهم الضالة إلى الإسلام، كذلك فهم يصورون الخلافات في التفسير بين الفرق خلافا واضطرابا في الشريعة الإسلامية، بل اضطرابا وتناقضا في القرآن نفسه- على حد زعمهم- وهم شديدو الاحتفاء بالدعاوى الباطلة والمنحرفة، ومن جملة شغبهم: وتضليلهم أن دراساتهم الحديثة بدأت تدعو إلى دراسة القرآن الكريم دراسة أدبية، حيث تطبق مناهج النقد الأدبي في دراسة القرآن الكريم، دون الالتفات إلى قداسة كتاب الله تعالى. وقد دعا أصحاب المدرسة الاستشراقية المتأثرة بالاستشراق إلى إخضاع تفسير القرآن الكريم لمناهج التحليل في العلوم الإنسانية. إذا كان عداء المستشرقين واضحا وجليا في مواقفهم من الإسلام، فإن خطورة من سار على نهجهم من تلامذتهم ممن ينتسبون للإسلام أشد خطرا وأكثر أثرا، وقد حاول أتباع المدرسة الاستشراقية الحديثة استخدام أساليب ملتوية في الطعن في كتاب الله تعالى، زاعمين حمل لواء التجديد في التفسير والفهم لكتاب الله تعالى، مدعين الوصول إلى مناهج جديدة في التفسير والتأويل لم يصل إليها أحد من قبلهم، ناقمين على مناهج المستشرقين، وهم-في حقيقة أمرهم-لم يخرجوا عن منهج المدرسة الاستشارقية كثيرا، وإنما يرددون ما سمعوهم ودرسوه عليهم. والواجب ثقيل على علماء المسلمين، إنهم مطالبون للتصدي لهذه الحملات المغرضة وبيان زيفها.
Orientalists’ research in the field of interpretation has not been characterized by scientific depth but in most cases it was characterized by superficiality and ignorance in the basics of interpretation. The effect of their hostile, anti-Islam backgrounds has been apparent, as orientalists look for perverted sects and dissenters and claim they are ideal models for Islam. They relate their misled opinions to Islam. They also portray differences in interpretation among sects as dispute and disorder in Islamic Shari’ah and even as a state of confusion and contradiction in the Holy Qur’an itself, as they claim. They acclaim corrupted and perverted ideas. Their misleading modern studies call for a literary study of the Holy Qur’an where literary criticism criteria can be applied on the study of the Holy Qur’an without regard to the holiness of The Book Of Allah. Orientalism followers being affected by orientalists call for submitting interpretation of the Holy Qur’an to analytical techniques applied by human scientists. Whilst Orientalists hostility to Islam is obvious, their followers or Muslim students are even more dangerous and more effective. They tried twisted ways to defame The Book Of Allah claiming they are innovators in interpreting and understanding The Book Of Allah be most elevated. They maintain they have reached unpreceded new methods in explaining and interpreting The Holy Qur’an. They pretended to be dissatisfied with orientalists but as a matter of fact they did not go too far from orientalism school but they actually repeated what they claim to contradict and criticize. Muslim scholars have a heavy burden on them to refute false claims of orientalists and their Muslim followers. They are demanded to face these biased campaigns, identify and shed light on.
