المستخلص: يهدف البحث الحالي إلى التعرف على طبيعة عمل أخصائي المعلومات في البيئة الرقمية من خلال تشخيص المهارات والأدوار التي يتمتع بها الأخصائيون كذلك التعرف على طبيعة البرمجيات المستخدمة لغرض إيجاد نقاط الضعف والقوة بما يناسب استخدامها من قبل العاملين لتقديم خدمات كفوءة للمستفيدين. اتبع المنهج المسحي ودراسة الحالة؛ لدراسة مهارات وكفايات أخصائي المعلومات والمكتبات من خلال استخدام الأساليب والدراسات والبحوث المنشورة والاستبيان والمقابلة. أما أهم النتائج المتوقعة: 1- افتقار المكتبات المبحوثة إلى أخصائيين تقنية معلومات مؤهلين تأهيلا أكاديميا. 2- جاء استخدام الحاسب الآلي والبرمجيات في خدمة الرسائل الجامعية بنسبة عالية جدا. 3- قلة الدعم المالي للاطلاع على كل ما هو جديد من تقنيات حديثة. 4- اقتصار خدمة الإنترنت على قسم التزويد والبحث الآلي فقط دون بقية الأقسام التوصيات: 1- توفير ورش عمل للعاملين تواكب التطورات الحديثة وخاصة في مجال تقديم خدمات الإلكترونية. 2- ضرورة إعداد وتهيئة دورات تدريبية لمدراء الأقسام. 3 دعم وسائل الاتصال الإلكتروني المختلفة.

The current research aims at exploring the nature of the information practitioners' work in the digital environment through identifying the skills and roles that have to be controlled by those people in order to adapt to the digital environment and also exploring the nature of the softwares that are used in libraries in order to identify weaknesses and strengths appropriate for use by information specialists and human resources (electronic services). Survey approach and case study approach have been followed in order to know the skills and competencies of specialists in information and libraries through using the published methods, studies and research, in addition to using questionnaires and interviews. As for the most important and predicted findings, they are: 1-The lack of information specialists who are academically qualified in the libraries under investigation. 2-The using of computers and softwares in the service of the university theses comes in high rates in comparison with other services. 3- Shortage in financial support for access to all what is new in modern technologies. 4- Internet service is limited to the supply section and automatic search without the rest of the sections 1- The necessity to provide intensive workshops for workers to keep pace with recent developments, especially in the field of providing electronic services. 2- The necessity of preparation and preamble of training courses for deparments' managers. 3- Supporting the various electronic communication methods.
