المستخلص: Le présent article porte sur la production de légumes et ses retombées économiques à Kaléane. Du point de vue méthodologique, il s’appuie sur une recherche documentaire sustentée d’enquête de terrain menée auprès des producteurs, des observations à Kaléane et au niveau des marchés de la ville de Ziguinchor, où sont commercialisés les produits. Le traitement des informations recueillies révèle que l’essor de la production de légumes à Kaléane à des fins commerciales, est en rapport avec la croissance de la demande de Ziguinchor. En outre, les résultats laissent apparaître que les femmes dominent la production de légumes frais avec 82 %. Par ailleurs, 81 % des producteurs ont un profit par campagne égale ou supérieur à 75 000 FCFA. Ce qui permet à bon nombre de femmes d’entreprendre, parallèlement, des activités commerciales. Une situation qui enclenche une dynamique de développement à Kaléane.

This article focuses on the production of fresh vegetables and its economic impact in the village of Kaléane. From a methodological point of view, it is based on documentary research supported by field surveys conducted among producers, direct observations in Kaléane and at the markets of the city of Ziguinchor, where the products are marketed. The processing of all the information collected reveals that the rise in vegetable production in Kaleane for commercial purposes is linked to the growth in demand for Ziguinchor, the main city in the southern part of Senegal. In addition, the results show that women dominate fresh vegetable production with 82%. In addition, more than 81% of producers have a profit per year equal to or greater than CFAF 75,000. This allows many women to undertake business activities in parallel. A situation that triggers a development dynamic in the village.
