المستخلص: Foreign trade is a powerful and effective tool for achieving sustainable economic development, which has become one of the issues raised at the regional and global levels. In addition to increasing participation in international trade, which contributes to increasing rates of economic growth and helps to link global markets with developing markets. Foreign trade represents a basic channel for the flow of services and foreign currency into the arteries of the economy, and the flow of technology necessary to increase production and improve production capacity in various economic sectors. This study examines the extent of the contribution made by international trade as a powerful tool for achieving sustainable economic growth. The study discusses the importance of foreign trade for the countries of the (EAC)and the sustainable development it provides for future generations in the presence of economic and political challenges facing the region , and increasing economic dependency. The study aims to identify the development of trade exchange for (EAC) countries; descriptive analytical approach was used to analyze the performance of foreign trade in (EAC) countries. The weak trade exchange between (EAC) countries is considered one of the most important results of the study and that it was limited to agricultural raw materials and Extractivity , the similarity of the products which makes them vulnerable to economic fluctuations at any time. The study recommended increasing cooperation and integration between (EAC) countries and opening new markets while activating trade exchange agreements, discuss ways to upgrade the manufactured product to gain access to global markets.
