المستخلص: The present study aims at analyzing the relationship between postage stamps and other sources of history, and discussing the information which postage stamps provide through tracking the postage stamps associated with Makkah and Madinah in terms of their chronology and thematic diversity, and revealing the relationship of postage stamps to the two holy cities. The study is based on three hypotheses: (1) postage stamps are visual documents to be used as a source for the study of history, (2) they provide historical information that is integrated with other sources, and (3) they contribute to the disclosure of information that support the studies of the history of Mecca and Medina. To verify the aforementioned hypotheses, the researcher followed the historical method that relies on surveying, describing and analyzing the postage stamps in general, and Saudi stamps in particular, from the beginning of their use in the middle of the thirteenth century Al 1 until the beginning of the fifteenth century AH. The study is divided into an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion. In the introduction, the researcher dealt with the importance of the topic and the definition of it as well as the sources of the study. The first chapter explains the relationship between postage stamps and the writing of history where she discussed the origin of postage stamps and attempts to taking care of them as historical collections, along with the information they provide and their place among the sources of history. The second chapter dealt with the postage stamps associated with Makkah and Madinah in terms of their history and the appearance of the names and landmarks of the two cities on them, as well as the pictures and the subjects included in those stamps. The researcher concluded the study with seven points, in which the correspondence of postage stamps with history was closely linked so that they can be considered as an important source that integrate with other sources of history.
