المستخلص: تناولنا في هذا البحث موضوع السياحة العالمية ومؤشراتها الأساسية، ويهدف هذا البحث إلى تسليط الضوء على ما يحدث في البيئة العالمية فيما يخص السياحة، وذلك إيمانا بأهمية القطاع السياحي في دفع التنمية في الدول الساعية لتحقيق النمو والتي تتوفر على إمكانيات سياحية خام وعلى رأسها الجزائر، وإيمانا أيضا بأهمية الاستفادة من البيئة الدولية للسياحة من أجل تأسيس استراتيجية سياحية فعالة مبنية على مؤشرات وتجارب دولية إيجابية وناجحة.

The research includes the theme of global tourism and its basic indicators, and this research aims to highlight what is happening in the global tourism environment, In the belief of the importance of the tourism sector in promoting development in developing countries that have the potential of tourism, especially Algeria, We also believe in the importance of benefiting from the international tourism environment in order to establish an effective tourism strategy based on positive and successful international indicators and experiences. This research included the concept of tourism through the presentation of some modern definitions of Tourism and their definition of the World Tourism Organization that adopted in most countries of the world : Tourism is defined as the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes, We also tried to present the characteristics of tourism in order to distinguish it from other similar phenomena such as travel and others, We also tried to display the types of tourism that helps in achieving certain objectives, such as any kind of tourism more influential on economic growth in the countries that try to plan its future economic policy, In order to give more credibility to this study, we have tried to strengthen it with field data for the most important indicators of tourism such as the number of tourist arrivals worldwide and the world tourism revenues during the current year and previous years, These data illustrate significant growth of indicators of global tourism year after year as a result of the great technological advancements and growing in the means of communication and transportation that has made the world like a small village is easily travel to all its aspects, Destinations worldwide welcomed 598 million international tourists in the first six months of 2017, some 36 million more than in the same period of 2016, At 6%, growth was well above the trend of recent years, making the current January-June period the strongest half-year since 2010, Visitor numbers reported by destinations around the world reflect strong demand for international travel in the first half of 2017, international tourist arrivals increased by 6% compared to the same six-month period last year, well above the sustained and consistent trend of 4% or higher growth since 2010. This represents the strongest half-year in seven years ,Results are underpinned by robust growth in many destinations and a continuation of the recovery in those that suffered declines in previous years. Of unwto regions, growth was strongest in the Middle East (+9%), Europe (+8%) and Africa (+8%), followed by Asia and the Pacific (+6%) and the Americas (+3%). At the end of this study we came out with some results that can be a reference for some plans and future studies, The most important is the need to adopt tourism as one of the strategic economic sectors to achieve economic development, especially in developing countries that depend on a single economic resource such as Algeria.
