Unemployment Correlation with Happiness Levels in Egypt

The new paradigm of economics of happiness has evolved and is now considered as a revolution in the economic thought. It flourished as an important tool in providing policy makers with insight of the psychological side effects of their economic decisions. The literature has tested the relationship between unemployment and happiness and found that unemployment lowers levels of happiness. We use data of the World Values survey to find the correlation between being unemployed and the level of happiness for the year 2001 in Egypt. We find a significant correlation in some of the age groups when selecting certain cases. Mostly youth less than 29 years are the one affected by unemployment. |
