The research discussed the concept of subsidy and the development of the value of subsidies petroleum products in Egypt, which reflected continuous increases during the study period. The petroleum products subsidies in the fiscal year (2009/2010) reached LE 66.5 billion, an increase of 552% , Which represents 71.1% of the total value of subsidies in the same year, which shows the size of the burden borne by the State Treasury against this support, which accounts for about 20% of the volume of public expenditure of the state, and 34% of total revenue, 47.8% of total taxes, 50.4% of the cash deficit and 50% of the total deficit. Then, the structure of the government subsidy for petroleum products was discussed, which showed the increase in the share of diesel, which came in the first place of the total subsides of petroleum products in the budget of 2008/ 2009 to 58.8%, followed by natural gas in second place with 23.7% Of the total value of subsidy, followed by potash by 20.2% The subsidy of petroleum products in the general budget in the country was also highlighted, with the most important economic, social and environmental repercussions resulting from the subsidy system, notably the decline in growth, negative impact on the trade balance, waste of economic resources and lack of respect for social justice.
