المستخلص: أفرزت الدراسات الجغرافية الحديثة عددا من الفروع الجغرافية ذات الصلة الوثيقة بالجغرافيا الاقتصادية ومنها جغرافية الخدمات، حيث تهتم الجغرافيا الاقتصادية بتوزيع وتعليل وتفسير الخدمة. وترجع أهمية دراسة الخدمات إلى ارتباطها بالتخطيط الاقتصادي لذلك يزيد الاهتمام الجغرافي بها، وتمثل خدمات توزيع وبيع أسطوانات الغاز أحد أشكال خدمات الطاقة الأساسية حيث يعتد عليها في شؤون الحياة، حيث يزداد الطلب عليها بتعدد نمط الاستفادة منها كالمساكن والفنادق والمطاعم والمستشفيات.
والدراسة تطبيقية تستهدف تتبع التطور التاريخي لظهور نشاط بيع وتوزيع أسطوانات الغاز بمدينة الدمام ومعرفة نمط التوزيع الجغرافي لها ودراسة التحليلات المكانية والإحصائية لمعرفة نسب الأحياء المحرومة من خدمة مراكز بيع وتوزيع أسطوانات الغاز الطبيعي والتعرف على مشكلاتها والمشاركة في حلها.
واعتمدت الدراسة لتطبيق أهدافا على مناهج متعددة منها التاريخي ومنهج التحليل المكاني لدراسة مفردات الظاهرة المكانية وتحليلها ومعالجتها علاوة على المنهج السلوكي مع استخدام الأسلوب الكارتوجرافى والدراسة الميدانية، وتناولت الدراسة التطور التاريخي لأسطوانات بيع الغاز الطبيعي والتوزيع الجغرافي لمراكز بيع وتوزيع أسطوانات الغاز في مدينة الدمام مع دراسة التحليل المكاني والكمي لمواقع محلات بيع وتوزيع أسطوانات الغاز الطبيعي، ودراسة المستهلك ومشكلات أسطوانات الغاز الطبيعي ومقترحات علاجها وأخيرا أهم التوصيات.


Modern geographical studies have produced many geographical branches closely related to economic geography, including the geography of services, as economic geography deals with the distribution, explanation, and interpretation of the service. The importance of studying services is due to its association with economic planning; thus, increases the geographic interest in it. Gas cylinder distribution and sale services are one form of basic energy services as life depends on them. Their demand is increasing because of the multiple utilization patterns such as residences, hotels, restaurants, and hospitals.
The applied study aims to track the historical development of the emergence of the activity of the sale and distribution of gas cylinders in the city of Dammam and to know the pattern of geographical distribution and study spatial and statistical analyses in order to find out the proportions of neighborhoods deprived of service centers selling and distributing natural gas cylinders, and identify their problems and participate in solving them.
The study in its application relied on multiple approaches, including historical and spatial analysis methodology, in order to study the items of the spatial phenomenon and analyze and treat them. The study also relied on the behavioral approach and employed the methods of cartography and field study. The study dealt with the historical development of natural gas cylinders and the geographical distribution of gas cylinders and their sales and distribution centers in the city of Dammam. The study also carried spatial and quantitative analysis of the locations of shops selling and distributing natural gas cylinders and carried consumer surveys. The researcher also studied the problems of natural gas cylinders and put proposals for the treatment. The study finally made some important recommendations.
