المستخلص: تسلط هذه الدراسة الضوء على عائلة دمشقية قطنت الشام قديما وما زالت، تعرف بابن حمزة الحسيني، ثم أصبحت تتسمى الحمزاوي، وقد جرى التعريف بآل حمزة، ثم ارتباطهم بنقابة أشراف دمشق، ومعرفة مدى التأثير العلمي والثقافي الذي أحدثته تلك العائلة في المجتمع الدمشقي، ثم معرفة الدور الاقتصادي الذي مارسه أفراد هذه العائلة عبر قرنين من الزمان منذ منتصف القرن العاشر حتى منتصف القرن الثاني عشر الهجري. وقد شكلت سجلات محاكم مدينة دمشق الشرعية المصدر الأوفر للمعلومات عن آل حمزة، إضافة لمصادر دمشقية مخطوطة ومطبوعة أخرى، لترسم لنا صورة واضحة لحالة المجتمع الدمشقي آنذاك.

The aim of this study is to shed light on Damascene family that inhabited in Sham (Levant) in ancient times and still, it is Ibn Hamza al-Husseini, then it was named as al-Hamzaoui and related to Damascus Nobles Association. Also, the study focuses on the scientific and cultural effect that this family implanted in the damascene society. Additionally, it explains the economic role through two centuries, from the middle of Hijri 10th century to the middle of Hijri 12th century. The most abundant source about this family is the records of legislative court in Damascus city. In addition to this, there are damascene manuscripts and printed sources to draw clear picture for damascene society in that time. Ibn Hamza family is constant decency damascene family. They came from Hijaz to Bagdad then Haran to settle down in Damascus. Some people who seek for in descendant say that they are al-Husseini al-Mantoof sons that his descendants spread in several areas. Ibn Hamza family represents a sample of damascene popular community. Its impact portrays in the social existence. Furthermore, the scientific, literary and cultural effect. Conversely, the mystic impact did'nt be available as other damascene families.
