المستخلص: The French thinkers have widely influenced the formation of Taha Husain and his private life. In my opinion, the Italian thinkers have also played a .very important role in that formation which has not been taken into consideration till now. This occurred through the direct influence of the Italian orientalists who taught Taha Husain at the university in Egypt. In the light of that there is not deep study of that influence; I decided to handle it in a treatment focusing on the historical context and the role which the Italian thinkers tried to play in the emerging university facing the French. The second part of this study is defined to handle the persons who contributed in forming Taha Husain with special reference to the four Italian orientalists: Ignazio Guidi .Carlo Alfonso Nallino, David Santillana, and Gerardo Meloni who have been his instructors at the university since 1908. The third part focuses on the thinkers who had the greatest influence in forming Taha Husain specially Almarsafi and Nallino. The fourth part tackles Nallino’s historical approach and its impact on Taha Husain. The study shows that Taha Husain has adopted the historical approach starting with his first work; The PHD Dissertation on the fifth of May 1914 and continued adopting it in his following works with varying degrees. This proves scientifically for the first time that Taha Husain, before leaving Egypt in a scholarship to France on the 14th of Nov. 1914, had learned the modem literary criticism methods and the historical approach due to the Italian influence of Nallino, not the French influence.
