السمنة غالبا ما تعرف ببساطه أنها حاله غير عاديه من شحوم فائضه متجمعة في النسيج الشحمي لدرجه حدوث إعلال في الصحة. اللبتين هرمون يصنع في الخلايا الدهنية أساسا ويعمل مركزيا ليسيطر على وزن الجسم. أنه يحمل المعلومات إلى الدماغ عن حجم مخزون الطاقة ويحفز مراكز الوطاء المسؤولة عن تنظيم أخذ واستهلاك الطاقة. واحده من اعتلالات الأعصاب الأكثر شيوعا هو متلازمه النفق الرسغي، متلازمه النفق الرسغي ربطت بالجنس والعمر. كلاهما اللبتين ومتلازمه النفق الرسغي ترتبط بالسمنة. 89 من الأشخاص البالغين شملوا بهذه الدراسة، 55 منهم كانوا يعانون زياده في الوزن (مؤشر كتله الجسم ≥ 25) مقارنه بــــ34 من البالغين طبيعي الوزن، أعمار كل المشاركين تتراوح بين 25- 45 سنة. كل المشاركين خضعوا للفحص السريري وفحوصات مختبريه مختلفة للتأكد أنهم ليس لديهم أمراض مزمنة مثل ضغط الدم، السكري إمراض الكبد، أمراض الكلى وأمراض القلب بالإضافة إلى تقييم مستوى هرمون اللبتين ومن ثم دراسة للأعصاب لكل المشتركين تشتمل فحص العصب الرسغي والزندي هذه الدراسة تهدف إلى اختبار العلاقة المحتملة بين متلازمه النفق الرسغي ومستوى هرمون البتين في الأشخاص اللذين يعانون زيادة في الوزن.
Obesity is often defined simply as a condition of abnormal or excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissue, to the extent that health may be impaired. Leptin is a hormone made by adipocytes and mainly acts centrally to control body weight. It conveys information to the brain about the size of energy stores and stimulates the hypothalamic centers responsible for regulation of energy intake and expenditure. One of the most common mononeuropathy of upper limbs is CTS, CTS is linked to various parameters like gender and age subsequently both leptin and CTS closely related to obesity, Eighty-nine adult subjects were included in this study, 55 of them were overweight (BMI≥25) compared to 34 normal weight adults. The age of all the participants was ranging between 25-45 years old. All the participants had underwent clinical examination with different lab investigation to make sure that they had no chronic disease like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, liver disease, renal disease and cardiac disease in addition to assessment of serum level of leptin hormone. Furthermore, a nerve conduction study was done for all the participants including testing median and ulnar nerves this study aims to test the possible relation between CTS and S. leptin level in overweight adults.
