520 |b The relationship between the Arab Gulf states and African countries extends for centuries, as there are many historical, geographical, religious, and cultural relations. On the economic field, investments play a large role in the process of economic and social development. Africa is considered as one of the most important continents that possess the foundations of investment in various fields, as it is rich in human and material resources, plus its strategic location. From this standpoint, economic relations emerged between the Arab Gulf states and Africa, which took many forms such as trade and developmental aids, as well as direct and indirect investments that continue to flow from the Arab Gulf states to sub-Saharan Africa to reach about 3.9 billion dollars between 2005 and 2015. This study aims to expose in detail the following points: The reasons for the Gulf investment heading towards Africa; The volume of foreign and Gulf direct investments in Africa, and their geographical and sectorial distribution; the reality of Gulf investment in various economic sectors in Africa; Future opportunities for Gulf investment in Africa; and the investment challenges in Africa. The study concluded that the economic cooperation between the Gulf countries and Africa represents an encouraging start for Gulf African integration that must be built upon and developed due to many considerations and mutual benefits for both sides. On the level of economic cooperation, Africa opens its doors for foreign investment, especially agricultural investment, food industries, mining and oil and gas exploration, In addition to being a vast market for marketing and consumption, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are especially looking for such opportunities to fulfill their needs of food and agricultural crops, as they also have accumulated experiences in the oil industry, as well as they have great capabilities in re exporting different products to the continent
