المستخلص: The article examines the aesthetic and cultural changes that have affected the evolution of European art over the last century. Through historical sociology and dialectical and historical materialism the articles show that the evolution of the art from modernity to postmodernity and postcoloniality is dependent on the revolutions of the capitalist mode of production. The latter has evolved from a national structure, stable and homogeneous to a global, decentered and fragmented structure. These shifts have not spared Africa. The article concludes that the cultural and aesthetic constraints erected by the de-structured art of the contemporary time can only be overcome by overtaking capitalism and art as a separate activity for the benefit of beautiful and aesthetic life in socialism.

L’article porte sur les transformations esthétiques et les mutations culturelles qui ont affecté l’évolution de l’art au cours du siècle écoulé. A travers la sociologie historique et le matérialisme dialectique et historique, l’article montre que l’évolution de l’art de la modernité à la postmodernité et à la postcolonialité est tributaire des révolutions du mode de production capitaliste. Ce dernier est passé d’une structure nationale, stable et homogène à une structure mondiale, décentrée et fragmentée. L’Afrique n’a pas échappé à ces bouleversements. L’article conclut que les contraintes culturelles et esthétiques érigées par l’art déstructuré de l’époque actuelle ne peuvent être vaincues que par le dépassement du capitalisme et de l’art lui-même comme activité séparée au profit de la vie belle et esthétique dans le socialisme.
