إن الحدائق نوع من أنواع الفنون التي تعبر عن رقي الإنسان على مر العصور، حيث أنها تمثل نوعا من أنواع العلم والمعرفة الذي يعكس مدى وعي المجتمع الثقافي. ويكفي أن نقول أن نشأة الحدائق ليس بالأمر الحديث، بل اهتمت به الحضارات السابقة لمنافعها ثم جاء إلينا العصر الحديث ليؤكد لنا قيمة الحديقة سواء منذ القدم ووصولا إلى فترة الحداثة، حيث إن نظرة الإنسان للحديقة لم تتغير بمرور الوقت ولم تستطع التكنولوجيا أن تسلبها أهميتها. فقد لعبت الحديقة دوراً كبيراً في الحياة اليومية للمجتمعات المسلمة من حيث تصميمها كفراغ خارجي مخصص لاستخدامات متعددة مراعي بذلك حاجة هذه المجتمعات للخصوصية. لقد مرت الحدائق بحقب زمنية مختلفة تمثلت بالتالي: حدائق العصور القديمة مثل حدائق بلاد الرافدين والفرعونية والإغريقية والرومانية والصينية. ثم تلتها حقبة حدائق الحضارة الإسلامية، ثم أعقبتها الحدائق بعصر النهضة. نصل بعد ذلك إلى فترة العصر الحديث والتي تضمنت بعض الحلول الذكية التي تراعي ضيق المكان واستغلالها كحدائق ومن ثم يتم استعراض الحدائق بدولة الكويت على المستوى الحكومي والخاص لنصل بعد ذلك لنتيجة وخلاصة استنتاجنا للبحث.
Gardens are a type of art that reflects human advancement throughout the ages, as they represent a kind of science and knowledge that reflects the awareness of the cultural community. It suffices to say that the emergence of gardens is not a modern thing. Rather, previous civilizations have considered its benefits. Then came the modern era that assured us of the value of the garden, both from ancient times to the period of modernity. The human view of the garden has not changed over time, and technology has not been able to take away its importance. The garden has played a significant role in the daily lives of Muslim communities in terms of designing it as an external space dedicated to multiple uses, taking into account the need for privacy of these communities. Gardens have gone through different periods of time, like ancient gardens such as Mesopotamia, Pharaonic, Greek, Roman, and Chinese gardens. It was followed by the era of gardens of Islamic civilization, followed by gardens in the Renaissance era. We then reach the modern era, which includes some smart solutions that consider the limitations of space and exploit it as gardens.
