المستخلص: تناولت هذه الدراسة تعريف الوقف البيئي في اللغة والاصطلاح، وعرفته بأنه حبس المال من أجل البيئة، والمحافظة على ما يحيط بالإنسان نقياً صافياً خالياً من التلوث الذي يضر بصحة الإنسان وحياته، فالوقف البيئي إحياء لدور الوقف في حماية البيئة. ثم عرضت تاريخ الوقف عند المسلمين وغيرهم من الأمم، وبينت أن الأمم على اختلاف معتقداتها كانت لها عباداتها، وهذه العبادة تتطلب أن يكون لها معبداً، فكان لا بد من مصدر ينفق على هذه المعابد وعلى القائمين عليها، مما دفع أتباع تلك الديانات إلى جعل عقارات ترصد غلاتها للقيام بهذه المعابد، وبينت دور الوقف في رعاية مصالح الأمة، والاهتمام بوجوه الخير والنفع العام، ورعاية صحة الإنسان والبيئة المحيطة به. كما عرضت الدراسة مشروعية الوقف البيئي من الكتاب والسنة، والآثار والمعقول، وبينت خطر التلوث البيئي على حياة الإنسان وتفاقم هذه الظاهرة، وقلة الموارد المالية المرصودة في البلاد الإسلامية لهذه الغرض، وازدياد النفقات والأعباء المالية الملقاة على عاتق هذه الدول، وأوصت الدراسة باستغلال الأوقاف لهذا الغرض السامي وجواز صرف الأوقاف في حماية البيئة ورعايتها والمحافظة عليها.

This study tackles the linguistic and technical definition of "environmental endowment" and defines it as to endow money for environment and conservation of human surrounding pure, clean and free of pollution which harms human's life. The environmental endowment is considered a revival of the endowment role in the conversation of environment. After that, this study traces the history of Islamic endowment as well as other nation's and shows that nations, despite discrepancy in beliefs, had their own worships which demanded a temple for worshipping, hence a source of income for those temples and those who are in charged of them. As a result of this, followers of those religions had to devote estates to afford those temples. The study also shows the role of endowment in looking after nation's interest, providing public benefits as well as taking care of human health and the surrounding environment. Additionally, this study presents the eligibility of environmental endowment based on Holly Qura'n, Sunnah, Islamic heritage and logic. The study also clarifies the aggravation of pollution phenomenon and its dangers on human's life, the shortage of financial resources appropriated for the environmental endowment in Islamic countries, and the increase of expenses and financial loads of those countries. This study recommends taking advantage of the environmental endowment and permitting establishing such ones for the sake of the conservation of human surrounding pure, clean and free of pollution.
