تنبع أهمية الدراسة من الدور المتعاظم للاستثمارات في الاقتصاد العالمي، كما أن تجارب عالمية، وعلى رأسها تجارب شرق آسيا تؤكد الدور الكبير للاستثمارات الأجنبية في دعم مسيرة التنمية الاقتصادية؛ فالقارة الإفريقية وما تزخر به من موارد جعلها تحت أنظار المستثمرين؛ فحظيت بقدر من تلك الاستثمارات إلا أن الواقع الإفريقي أبرز تحديات كثيرة جعلت من الصعوبة بمكان تحقيق الفائدة القصوى من هذه الاستثمارات. تهدف الدراســة إلى الوصـف الكمـي والنوعـي للاســتثمارات الأجنبيـة المبـاشرة الداخلة إلى إفريقيا، كما تهدف إلى تحليل التحديات المختلفة التي تواجهها، وأخيرا تهدف إلى وضع رؤية استراتيجية لتعزيز دور الاستثمارات في دعم التنمية الاقتصادية في إفريقيا. وتفترض الدراسة محدودية دور الاستثمارات الأجنبية المباشرة في دعم التنمية؛ وذلك نتيجة لوجود مجموعة من التحديات التي تواجهها. اتبعت الدراسة مجموعة من المناهج؛ إذ استخدمت المنهج التاريخي في توثيق مختلف أدبيات التنمية والاستثمار، كما استخدمت المنهج الإحصائي في رصد حجم التدفقات الاستثمارية الداخلة إلى إفريقيا، كما اتبعت المنهج الوصفي التحليلي في وصف وتحليل التحديات المختلفة التي تواجه تلك الاستثمارات وتحد من دورها في دعم عمليات التنمية الاقتصادية. وقد خرجت الدراسة بعدد من النتائج من أهمها أن دور الاستثمارات الأجنبية المباشرة في التنمية محدود؛ وذلك لوجود مجموعة من التحديات التي تواجهها. عليه وضعت الدراسة مجموعة من التوصيات من أهمها ضرورة مواجهة التحديات المختلفة التي تواجه تلك الاستثمارات في الجوانب الاقتصادية والسياسية والأمنية.
The importance of the study stems from the growing role of investments in the global economy, and global experiences, on top of it the experiences of East Asia, confirm the great role of foreign investments in supporting the process of economic development. The African continent, and its abundant resources, have placed it under the attention of investors, and has got some of these investments. However, the African reality highlighted many challenges that made it difficult to achieve the maximum benefit from these investments. The study aims to quantitative and qualitative description of foreign direct investment entering into Africa, as well as to analyze the various challenges it faces and finally aims to develop a strategic vision to enhance the role of investments in supporting economic development in Africa. The study assumes an analysis of the limited role of foreign direct investment in supporting development as a result of a set of challenges facing it. The study followed a set of approaches where it used the historical approach in documenting the various literatures on development and investment. It also used the statistical approach in monitoring the size of investment flows entering Africa. It also followed the analytical descriptive approach in describing and analyzing the various challenges facing these investments and limiting their role in supporting economic development processes. The study came out with a number of results, the most important of which is that the role of foreign direct investment in development is limited, due to the existence of a set of challenges facing it. Accordingly, the study developed a set of recommendations, the most important of which is to confront the various challenges that face these investments in the economic, political and security aspects
