يبتغي هذا البحث كشف النقاب عن منهج ابن جني في الذبّ عن سيبويه في الأبنية التي غفل عنها، وتتبعها النحاة بعده كابن السراج، مما جعل ابن جني يظن ذلك انتقاصا من جهد سيبويه في الكتاب، فانبرى يرد عنه ذلك، ويجتهد في إيجاد العلل للانتصار ممن نالوا من سيبويه وحطوا من قدره حسب فهمه. وقد تشابهت ردود النحاة وأهل اللغة والمعاجم في الكثير من الأمثلة التي فاتت سيبويه في الموافقة أو الرفض، وهذا ما سيوضحه البحث. وقد قسمت الفوائت التي أوردها ابن جني إلى أقسام حسب مصدرها، ثم شُرع بعد ذلك ببيان أدلة ابن جني التي أفصح عنها في كتابه الخصائص، ثم استنباط الأدلة التي استعان بها ابن جني ولم يذكرها صراحة، وكل ذلك قد ألقي في ميزان الدراسة والنقد والمقارنة طلبا لبيان قوة تلك الأدلة. وقد أفضى البحث إلى أن النحاة القدامى لم يلح في تفكيرهم أن الأبنية تتكاثر وتتحور، وهذا تطور طبعي يصيب الأبنية لأسباب عديدة، ولذلك تتبع النحاة القدامى أثر سيبويه وغيره يتصيدون أبنية فائتة كأنهم يقعون على علم غزير! ولو أنهم أنفقوا وقتهم وجهدهم الغزير في ما هو أهم لكان خيراً لهم وأقوم.
This research aims to reveal Ibn-Jinni's approach in defending Sibawayh for overlooking certain linguistic structures. Such omissions were pointed out by some grammarians, like Ibnul-Sarraj, which made Ibn-Jinni think it was a derogation of Sibawayh's effort in the book. He responded to this and tried hard to find reasons to get back at those who had attacked Sibawayh and degraded him, according to his understanding. This responses of grammarians, linguists and lexicographers were similar regarding many of the examples which Sibawayh overlooked, whether in approval or rejection, as this research will explain. The omissions mentioned by Ibn-Jinni were divided into sections, according to their source. Then the researcher began to show the evidence of Ibn-Jinni, which was mentioned in his book "Al-Khasa'is" and then concluded the evidence that ibn-jinni used and did not mention explicitly. All this was scrutinized, criticized and compared, in order to show the strength of that evidence. The research has shown that the early grammarians had overlooked the fact that the linguistic structures increase and change, and that this is a natural development that affects structures for many reasons. Therefore, early grammarians scrutinized Sibawayh's works, and the work of others, hunting for any overlooked structures as if they were trying to discover precious knowledge! Had they spent their time and effort on something more important, it would have been better for them and more suitable.
