المستخلص: This study refers to the political use of rivers through some example of travel literatures. The travel in the ancient world was considered dangerous even during the Roman peace, put the classical poets turn this danger and difficulties during trips to the goals they seek to achieve. Especially trips that rely on travel by sea or river which makes them eager to incorporate fantasy into reality to achieve their targets. This happens either in the imperial court because it stems from their own sense of responsibility towards their homelands and maintaining peace. Such as the Aeneid of Virgil where the horrors of the journey and descent to the lower world and then finally reached the real happiness to find the homeland the he wants. As well as with Ovid in the Tristia , he wishes to pardon and seduce the emperor for returns to home again . And Ausonius in his poems about the rivers and his journey to get the rest and tranquility in his home in Gaul.
