المستخلص: Cicero wrote Scipio's dream (Somnium Scipionis) at the end of his book "On Commonwealth" De republica in 129 B. C.. The researcher employs the analytical method in this research; before we tackle this method, we tried to answer some questions: What is the definition of a dream? What are the prophecies of Scipio Africanus (the elder) for Scipio Aemilianus (the younger) in this dream? Does it come true? Does Scipio's dream focus on one thought or many thoughts? What are the objectives and significations that are meant by Cicero by writing Scipio's dream? Does Cicero use figurative images to express what is in his mind? Dreams have taken people's entire attention since ancient times, as is indicated in Quran and Bible about the tale of Joseph (peace be upon him), and a dream employs symbols in order to depict his hidden thoughts in a persuasive manner. Symbolism is not a characteristic of dreams, yet it is a characteristic of unconscious thinking, and especially public thinking, and we can find it in public inherited songs, legends, and novels more than it is in dreams. Scipio's dream includes talking about future and many prophecies, it also includes symbolism in depicting hidden thoughts. Cicero presents the dream as scenes seen by sleepers to express unconscious desires that he cannot express them in reality, and so they can be breathed out. They are taken from the past and reality, and they may predict future in a symbolic way. The researcher thinks that Scipio's dream is like a science fiction journey to the space. As Cicero employs his imagination in the dream to go in a journey from the world to the upper world that is Heaven, and he has imagined the planets and stars and even their movements and sounds. Cicero states that sounds emerge from the planets' movement itself. This sound is a result of a mixture of different tones with each other. It seems that Cicero's aim is to show that the world's harmony is typical to a figurative and real harmony on earth between a ruler and his people. The planets' movement is similar to "pressing on the strings of a musical instrument" in its picture.
