تلخصت مشكلة هذا البحث في التعرف على الدوافع التي تقف وراء تعرض الطلبة الدارسين في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية للقنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية والإشباعات المتحققة عن هذا التعرض في هذا المجتمع الخاص الذي يشكل بيئة اجتماعية علمية محددة، عن طريق تطبيق نظرية الاستخدامات والإشباعات في إطار المجتمعات الخاصة، وسعى هذا البحث إلى تحقيق ثلاثة أهداف هي، قياس استخدامات لطلبة الدارسين في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية للقنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية، والتعرف على دوافع تعرضهم لتلك القنوات فضلا عن رصد الإشباعات المترتبة على استخدام الطلبة الدارسين في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية للقنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية، وقد انطلقت فروض هذا البحث من الفروض الرئيسة لنظرية الاستخدامات والإشباعات وهذه الفروض هي: الفرض الأول: يتعرض الطلبة الدارسون في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية للقنوات الأجنبية الناطقة بالإنكليزية بهدف تحقيق معارف وخبرات في مجال اختصاصهم. الفرض الثاني: يستخدم الطلبة القنوات الفضائية الأجنبية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية بهدف تحقيق حاجات ودوافع عدة ويتعرضون بشكل مستمر للبرامج التي تشبع تلك الحاجات والدوافع. الفرض الثالث: تستقطب برامج تلك الفضائيات اهتمامات الطلبة بهدف تحقيق أهداف محددة ومقصودة تلبي في واقع الحال توقعاتهم واحتياجاتهم وإشباعاتهم المختلفة. وللتحقق من هذه الفروض وتحقيقا لأهداف البحث استخدم الباحث أداة الاستبيان لإجراء دراسة ميدانية على عينة عشوائية قوامها (240) مبحوثا بينهم (141) مبحوثة من الطالبات الإناث و(99) مبحوثا من الطلبة الذكور الدارسين في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية بكليات اللغات والآداب والتربية في جامعة بغداد الذين يشكلون مجتمع البحث في المدة من (1/2/2018) إلى (28/2/2018)، ويعد هذا البحث أول تطبيق عملي لاختبار نظرية الاستخدامات والإشباعات على مستوى الطلبة الدارسين في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية في العراق، وتوصل البحث إلى العديد من النتائج، من أهمها: ١. صحة الفرض الأساسي لنظرية الاستخدامات والإشباعات والذي يشير إلى أن الجمهور يستخدم وسائل الإعلام لتحقيق أهداف مقصودة تلبي توقعاته، إذ تبين أن غالبية الطلبة الدارسين في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية بجامعة بغداد يستخدمون القنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية. ٢. أظهرت نتائج البحث أن الطالبات الإناث اللاتي يدرسن في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية بجامعة بغداد أكثر اهتماما من الذكور بالتعرض للقنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية. ٣. دلت النتائج إلى أن عدم وجود الوقت الكافي هو السبب الأبرز لعدم تعرض عدد من المبحوثين الدارسين في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية بجامعة بغداد للقنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية، فضلا عن عدم تناولها للشأن العراقي في الكثير من الأحيان. ٤ . أثبتت الدراسة صحة الفرض الأول (يتعرض الطلبة الدارسون في أقسام اللغة الإنكليزية بجامعة بغداد للقنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية بهدف تحقيق معارف وخبرات في مجال اختصاصهم). مثل: أنها تسهم في كثير من الحالات في زيادة قدراتي في مادة الإنكليزية، وتعلمني بشكل مستمر بعض المفردات الإنكليزية التي لم أتعرف عليها خلال دراستي، كما عززت من قدراتي في تلفظ بعض المفردات والجمل بشكل صحيح، وأسهمت بشكل واضح من تغيير نظرتي وتصوراتي السابقة عن المجتمعات الغربية. 5. أثبتت الدراسة صحة الفرض الثاني (يستخدم الطلبة القنوات الفضائية الأجنبية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية بهدف تحقيق حاجات ودوافع عدة ويتعرضون بشكل مستمر للبرامج التي تشبع تلك الحاجات والدوافع)، من بينها، متابعتي لتلك الفنون تزيد من معرفتي باللغة الإنكليزية، وتساعدني في كثير من الحالات في فهم الواقع داخل وخارج العراق، و تجعلني أكثر تميزا من أقراني من الطلبة، وتزودني بمعلومات عن ثقافات وأساليب حياة الشعوب الأخرى، كما تقدم لي الخبرات المتراكمة في مجال الاختصاص، وتعلمت من خلالها طرق وأساليب الحوار والنقاش مع زملائي وأساتذتي، واعتقد أنها تمثل الجانب العلمي لموضوع تخصصي. ٦. أثبتت الدراسة صحة الفرض الثالث (تستقطب برامج القنوات الفضائية الناطقة باللغة الإنكليزية اهتمامات الطلبة بهدف تحقيق أهداف محددة ومقصودة تلبي في واقع الحال توقعاتهم واحتياجاتهم وإشباعاتهم المختلفة)، مثل، جعلني انتظر بعض البرامج لمقدمين برامج عالميين بهدف التعرف على بعض الأفكار المستورثة، وأخبر بعض زملائي الطلبة عن بعض المفردات التي تعلمتها عن طريق تلك البرامج ، وأتابع تلك القنوات بهدف تحقيق التسلية والترفيه والإمتاع وأتوقع دائما من برامج تلك الفضائيات الكثير من العبارات والكلمات الجديدة في اللغة الإنكليزية لم أتعلمها من قبل فضلا عن أنها تساعدني في فهم المنهج الدراسي بشكل أفضل وتجعلني أتحدث باللغة الإنكليزية مع أساتذتي وزملائي بشكل أفضل وأنا مليء بالثقة فيما أدرسه.
The problem of this study consists in identifying the motivations behind exposing the students of English departments for English satellite TV channels and the gratifications which result from that exposing in this private society which forms definite scientific social environment through the application of Uses and Gratifications Theory in the frame of private societies ,and this research aims to achieve three aims: measuring the uses of English satellite TV channels by the students of English departments and recognizing their motivations behind their exposing for such channels beside observing the gratifications which are resulted from the uses of English satellite TV channels by the students of English departments and the hypotheses of this research are stemming from the major hypotheses of the theory of Uses and Gratifications. The first hypotheses: the students of English departments are exposing to English satellite TV channels to achieve much knowledge and experience in their field of study. The second hypotheses: the students of English departments use English satellite TV channels to achieve a number of motivations and needs and always exposing for programs which gratificate those needs and motivations. The third hypothesis: The programs of these satellite channels attract the students' interests to achieve definite and intended aims meet their various expectations, needs and gratifications. For verifying these hypotheses and achieving the aims of this research, the researcher uses questionnaire as a tool to do field study on random sample consists of (240) students in department of English divided into (141female)and (99male) from College of Languages, College of Education and College of Arts at Baghdad University which represent the population of this research of the period from(1/3/2018) To(28/3/2018).This research is regarded the first practical application for testing the theory of uses and gratifications on the level of the students in English departments in Iraq. The study revealed many of results, the most important are: 1. The truthful of the basic hypothesis of the theory of uses and gratifications which states that the public use mass media to achieve intentional aims meet their expectations, it was stated that the majority of the students in English departments at Baghdad University use English satellite TV channels. 2. The results revealed the female students who studied in English departments at Bagdad University are more interested in English satellite TV channels than male students. 3. Lack of time represent the main reason for not exposing many of the students in departments of English at Bagdad university for English satellite TV channels, besides that, sometime those channels do not deal with Iraqi affairs. 4. The study affirms the truthfulness of the first hypothesis: The students of English departments are exposing to English satellite TV channels to achieve much knowledge and experience in their field of study for example, in most cases it increases the students' ability in English language, and it enhances their ability in pronouncing some vocabularies and sentences correctly, it also contributes clearly in changing my previous views and thoughts about western societies. 5. The study ensures the reliability of the second hypothesis: The students of English departments use English satellite TV channels to achieve a number of motivations and needs and always exposing for programs which gratificate those needs and motivations. Of these: watching those programs increase my knowledge in English language, it help me in understanding the reality inside and outside Iraq, and make me more distinctive among my classmates, it provides me with information about the culture and styles of other societies, it presents me accumulative experience in my field of study, it learns me methods and techniques of conversation with my teachers and classmates, and I think it represents the scientific aspect for my specification. 6. The study affirms the truthfulness of the third hypothesis (The programs of these satellite channels attract the students' interests to achieve definite and intended aims meet their various expectations, needs and gratifications), for example, it makes me wait some programs for world program presenters to identify some inherited ideas ,and tell some of my classmates about some vocabularies which I learn through those programs, and I follow those channels for the sake of achieving entertainment, amusement and I always guess a lot of English new words and phrases which I did not learn before through watching these programs, furthermore, with full confidence it helps me in more understanding of the syllabus and makes me speak English with my teachers and classmates in a better way.
