المستخلص: There are many literary texts that have handled the concept of generational clash as the main theme, but this theme is very obvious and influential in Shakespeare's play, King Lear. It portrays and forms the whole current and the consequent actions in the play. This paper tackles this subject as its core of discussion. It aims at analyzing the play text to shed light on the events that clarify this clash. To achieve the aim, the paper follows the theory of power and authority of Michel Foucault as well as Freud's psychological theory. The paper is divided into an introduction to the subject, the methodology which occurs after that, a discussion follows which elaborates the analysis, and finally, the paper is to be closed with a conclusion that shows the findings of the discussion.
