المستخلص: This research deals with the roots and rituals of pagan beliefs and deities in the ancient Maghreb before the advent of Christianity. Including local gods and deities and foreign deities coming to the ancient Maghreb: the Phoenician-Punic, Egyptian deities, and Greek and Roman deities. These beliefs reflected the ancient Maghrebians' view of the universe and life with its various physical and moral components. Some rituals are still practiced by many Moroccans even today. They are mechanized rituals, performed either by individuals who do not seek personal benefit or groups working for the benefit of the group, without the need for a priest or a meeting in a temple. Numerous studies have emerged on this subject, which began to be clarified and elaborated on at the beginning of the twentieth century.

يعالج هذا البحث جذور المعتقدات والمعبودات الوثنية وطقوسها في بلاد المغرب القديم قبل ظهور المسيحية. منها معبودات وآلهة محلية ومعبودات أجنبية وافدة إلى بلاد المغرب القديم: كالمعبودات الفينيقية- البونية والمصرية والمعبودات الإغريقية والرومانية. تلك المعتقدات التي كانت انعكاسا لنظرة الإنسان المغاربي القديم للكون والحياة بمختلف مكوناتها المادية والمعنوية. ولازالت بعض الطقوس يزاولها الكثير من المغاربة حتى اليوم. وهي عبارة عن طقوس آلية، يباشرها إما الأفراد الذين لا يبحثون عن تحقيق منفعة شخصية، وإما مجموعات تعمل لتحقيق مصلحة الجماعة، دون حاجة إلى كاهن ولا إلى الاجتماع في معبد. وقد ظهرت دراسات عديدة تناولت هذا الموضوع، شرع في استجلائها وتوضيحها في مطلع القرن العشرين.

Cet article traite l’origine des divinités et croyances païennes et ses rites, dans le Maghreb antique avant l’apparition du christianisme. Ces croyances étaient le reflet de la vision de l’homme Maghrébin sur l’univers, et la vie dans toutes ses composantes matérielles et morales.
Ces croyances sont liées à des rites qu’un grand nombre de Berbères s’adonnent encore à des pratiques d’origine magique, ou mécaniques qui, pour produire les résultats souhaités, les imitent ou les amorcent.
Ces rites sont mis en oeuvre soit par des individus, ne cherchant que leur intérêt personnel, soit par des groupes qui agissent collectivement pour le bien de la communauté, d’ordinaire sans secourir à des prêtres, ni s’assembler dans des sanctuaires. Il y a là un vaste champ d’études, qui commence à peine à être déchiffré par des travaux remarquables qui se poursuit encore, mais qui présente de grandes difficultés.
