تعتبر التنمية المهنية لمعلمي المواد النظرية عملية مستمرة مخطط لها بصورة منظمة قابلة للتنفيذ من أجل الارتقاء بمستوى أداء المعلم من خلال إكسابه المهارات اللازمة وتنمية الاتجاهات الإيجابية لديه لتحسين مستوى التعليم استجابة للمتغيرات وحاجات المجتمع، مع المستجدات في تطوير التعليم الصناعي ومن ثم هدفت الدراسة إلى- تسليط الضوء على الإطار المفاهيمي للتنمية المهنية المستدامة - التعرف على واقع التنمية المهنية المستدامة - محاولة استكشاف الصعوبات التي تواجه التنمية المهنية - وصولا لتصور مقترح يسهم في تحقيق التنمية المهنية لمعلمي المواد الفنية النظرية في ضوء التطور العلمي والتكنولوجي، ولمعرفة ذلك الواقع تم تطبيق استبانة تضمنت الآتي: (آليات التدريب والتطوير المستمر - توفير الإمكانات والمصادر اللازمة للتنمية المهنية المستدامة - المستجدات التكنولوجية اللازمة للتنمية المهنية المستدامة - الصعوبات التي تواجه التنمية المهنية المستدامة - الحلول المقترحة لمواجهة مشكلات التنمية المهنية المستدامة) واستخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي، وتوصلت الدراسة لعدة نتائج أهمها : (بذل الجهد لتطوير مهاراته وقدراته في مجال التخصص لتحسين جودة العمل - محدودية وجود مكتبة متخصصة لخدمة المعلمين في التخصصات بالمدرسة الصناعية - ندرة وجود المعامل والمعدات التي تعمل بالكمبيوتر والإنترنت في التعليم الصناعي - غياب الرؤية المستقبلية لدى المخططين لتطوير أداء المعلمين الربط بين المادة العلمية لتخصصه، ومشكلات سوق العمل، واحتياجاته)
