المستخلص: تشكل المحميات الطبيعية ومواردها الطبيعية عنصراً مهماً في صناعة السياحة البيئية وتنمية الموارد الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للكويت، فهي تمثل مورداً اقتصادياً مهماً وحيوياً لجذب السياحة الداخلية والخارجية خاصة الإقليمية للدولة. يعتبر هذا البحث نواة لبحث دراسة وإمكانية استخدام تقنيات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية ودورها في تأهيل وإدارة المحميات الطبيعية في الكويت خاصة بعد اعتماد الكويت لتأهيل أكثر من خمس محميات طبيعية جديدة (أم نقا، والخويسات، وأم قدير، ووادي الباطن، والهويملية)، بالإضافة إلى الجزر البحرية. اتخذت محمية صباح الأحمد الطبيعية نموذجاً لدراسة حالة على هذا النموذج. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى أهمية استخدام نظم المعلومات الجغرافية وتقنيات الاستشعار عن بعد في إدارة وتطوير المحميات الطبيعية ودراسة مواردها البيئية ومشكلاتها الحالية ووضع الخطط المستقبلية لإدارتها والحفاظ عليها.

“Sabah Al Ahmad Nature Reserve” is located at the north of Kuwait Bay. It is bordered in the south by Kuwait Bay, and in the northwest by Umm Al-Aish. The total area is 331.41 km2. The current study applies remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques to Management An Empirical Study of Sabah Al-Ahmed Nature Reserve in Kuwait, also to show atlas maps of Sabah Al-Ahmed Natural Reserve (Vegetation Cover, Soil and Lithological Maps). Our main goal of the mission was to utilize the recent high-resolution satellite images (WorldView-2) and field survey to inventory and produce recent maps and Geo-database for military fortifications, concrete blocks and other components, to support the upcoming remediation actions for the damaged areas at Sabah Al-Ahmad nature reserve on regional, tactical and operational levels. “Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve” is one of the affected sites by the remains of more than 240,000 military fortifications in the northeastern, northwestern, western, west-southwestern, and southeastern sectors of Kuwait after 20 years since their constructions is high and serious complicated issue. The total count of the concrete blocks is more than 750 blocks (exactly 787 blocks), they are disturbed on all the area of “Sabah Al- Ahmad Nature Reserve”, The total count of the military fortifications is 38 blocks; they are concentrated in the north west of “Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve”, The total count of the refilled areas is 27; they are concentrated in the north east and in the south of “Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve”,
