المستخلص: This Paper discusses the role of manufacturing industries and their relative importance as an engine for economic development in Africa. This paper follows the ARDL model to liberate the importance of manufacturing in Africa’s economy from 2000 to 2018. This paper is divided into four parts, the first one deal with an overview of the manufacturing industries in sub-Saharan Africa and their development in terms of growth and direction. The second one deals with the challenges that hinder the development and export of manufacturing industries in sub Saharan Africa. The Third one investigates the impact of manufacturing on economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa, while the fourth one deals with effective strategies for the development of the manufacturing sector. The study found that manufacturing industries exert a positive impact on long- and short-term economic growth. Some of the alternatives that Africa could adopt to promote industrialization, such as promoting regional integration and intra-regional trade, encouraging national investments and attracting foreign direct investment, enhancing domestic savings, improving worker productivity through education and training, reforming financial systems, developing infrastructure and exploiting remittances abroad. And develop stock and bond markets.
