|b The purpose of this article is to remind the reader of Mahfoud Boucebci's contribution to Algerian psychiatry. The scope of his interests and commitments has undoubtedly largely determined his notoriety in Algeria and throughout the world. In homage to him, we propose here to present a synthesis of his main works through which we discover the immensity of the psychiatrist and the man who was one. He campaigned in favour of a scientific and humanistic psychiatry. Algerian psychiatry today, more than ever, mourns the loss of one of the greatest thinkers since its creation.

|d Cet article a pour objectif de rappeler au lecteur l’apport de Mahfoud Boucebci à la psychiatrie algérienne. L’amplitude de ses intérêts et de ses engagements a sans doute largement déterminé sa notoriété en Algérie et dans le monde. On se propose ici, pour lui rendre hommage, de présenter la synthèse de ses principaux travaux à travers laquelle on découvre l’immensité du psychiatre et de l’homme qui l’a été. Il a milité en faveur d’une psychiatrie scientifique et humaniste. La psychiatrie algérienne porte aujourd’hui, plus que jamais, le deuil d’un des plus grands penseurs depuis sa création.
