المستخلص: دافع عن الاحتلال الروماني لمقاطعة إفريقيا البروقنصلية -نوميديا جيش مشكل من وحدة نظامية ودائمة عرفت باسم "الفيلق الأوغسطي الثالث" والذي عاضدته مجموعة من الوحدات الـمساعدة. هذا الجيش بفضل الوثائق النقائشية تعرفنا على تركيبته، رجاله، أداوراه وإسهاماته، ومن بين أكثر تلك الوثائق أهمية وشهرة نجد نقيشة الخطاب الـموجه من الإمبراطور "هادريانوس" لمختلف الوحدات خلال زيارته لبلاد الـمغرب في جويلية 128م، هذه النقيشة بقدر ما وضحت لنا جوانب مختلفة حول هذا الجيش؛ القيادة العليا والضباط، التدريبات والانضباط، فإنها حرمتنا من التعرف على جزئيات أخرى نظرا لتعرضها لكسور بالغة صعب جمعها وتصويبها، ومن أبرزها معرفة وحدات الـمساعدين المتواجدة أثناء الزيارة، هذا الجهل زال اليوم نتيجة اكتشاف شهادات عسكرية مؤرخة بسنة الزيارة والتي وضحت لنا الوضعية العسكرية وزادت من حجم معرفتنا بجيش الـمقاطعة.

The Roman occupation in the province of Africa proconsularis-Numidia was defended by an army consisting of a regular and permanent unit known as the "Legio III Augusta", which was supported by auxiliary units. Thanks to the epigraphic documents, we know what this army was composed of; his men, his roles and his contributions. Among the most important and famous documents is the inscription of the speech of the Emperor Hadrian addressed to the troops of the African army during his visit to the Maghreb in July 128. An inscription that enlightened us so much on many aspects of the army: general command and officers, trainings and disciplines. However we were deprived of knowing the names of the auxiliary units during the visit because of loss of significant parts of the speech. Today, with new discoveries such as military diplomas dated from the year of the visit we have been able to enrich our knowledge of the provincial army.

L’occupation romaine de la province de l’Afrique proconsulaire-la Numidie, été défendue par une armée constituée d’une unité régulière et permanente connue sous le nom de «Legio III Augusta», qui a été soutenue par des unités auxiliaires. Grâce aux documents épigraphiques on a pu connaitre de quoi se composait cette armée « ses hommes, ses rôles et ses apports ». Parmi les documents les plus importants et les plus fameux « l’inscription du discours de l’empereur Hadrien adressée aux troupes de cette armée d’Afrique durant sa visite Africaine en juillet 128 ». Une inscription qui nous a tant éclairé sur nombreux aspects de l’armée : le commandement général et les officiers, les exercices militaires et la discipline. Cependant, nous a privé de connaitre les noms des unités auxiliaires durant la visite à cause d’une fâcheuse cassure qui a emporté avec elle toutes ces informations. Aujourd’hui avec les nouvelles découvertes telles que les diplômes militaires datés du temps de la visite, on a pu enrichir nos connaissances sur l’armée de la province.
