المستخلص: تمثلت شخصية البروفيسور فؤاد سزكين العلمية بالبحث والنقد في الوقت ذاته، إذ هو ليس من المؤرخين الذين يوردون المعلومات التاريخية دون نقد وتمحيص، كما هي عادة كثير من المؤرخين، فالناظر في مؤلفاته يجد علما غزيرا، وشخصيته حاضرة في النقد الحديثي، ومن أمثلة ذلك في كتابه: (مصادر البخاري) وكتابه (تاريخ التراث العربي -قسم الحديث النبوي). ولعلنا حينما نقرأ تعقبات بعض الباحثين حول انتقادات سزكين لشخصية البخاري ومنهجه قد نجد بعض الانتقادات كانت في محلها، وأحيانا نجد أن سزكين له وجهة نظر فيما ذهب إليه، وفي الوقت ذاته لا تنقص ممن انتقده سزكين، ومن هنا جاءت الدراسة للوقوف مع شخصية فؤاد سزكين النقدية في علم الحديث، وبيان منهجه في البحث الحديثي، ثم تحليلها من خلال تراثه العلمي، خاصة كلامه في تدوين السنة النبوية، ثم انتقاد صحيح البخاري، ثم تعقباته على الباحثين (خاصة المستشرقين)، ليس فقط لبيانها وتحليلها وبيان وجه الإصابة فيها أو خطأه؛ إنما لبيان شخصيته النقدية العلمية بشكل موضوعي، وبيان نظرته واجتهاده، ثم بيان الاستدراكات عليه، حيث يظن كثير من الباحثين أن فؤاد سزكين على منهج المستشرقين، في حين إنه من أوائل من تعقبهم وانتقدهم. وسأسلك في بحثي المنهج الاستقرائي في جمع آرائه في علم الحديث، ثم تحليلها، وبيان منهجه في البحث والنقد الحديثي.

The scientific personality of Dr. Fuat Sezgin appears through examination and criticism at the same time. He is not one of historians who states historical information without criticism and purification as many historians do. The examiner of his writings finds out productive science and present personality in Hadith criticism, as can be seen in his two books Al - Bukhari Sources and Arabic Heritage history - Prophetic Hadith Section. When we look at the comments of some researchers on Secgin’s criticism of Al - Bukhari’s personality and approach, we may find out that some of his criticism is correct. Sometimes, we see that Sezgin has his own view regarding criticism. Therefore, this study aims to explore the critical personality of Fuat Sezgin in Hadith science, states his approach of Hadith research, then analyzes it according his scientific heritage, especially his discourse on codifying Prophetic Sunnah, his criticism of Sahih al - Bukhari, and his comments on researchers (especially orientalists). The study does so, to not only analyze and clarify his work, but also to identify the right and wrong in it, shed light on his scientific critical personality in an objective way, present his views, and show his diligence. It also draws on the corrections addressed to his work, as many researchers think that Fouad Sezgin follows the orientalists’ approach while he was among the early commentators who criticized them. In this study, the researcher follows the inductive approach to gather his opinions related to Hadith science, in addition to analyzing and stating his approach in Hadith research and criticism.
