شهد القرن العشرين ظهور العديد من الجمعيات والحركات الدينية سواء منها ما هو معتدل وما هو متطرف، والحق أن هذه الحركات لم تنشأ من فراغ فقد تضافرت عدة عوامل سياسية وفكرية واجتماعية واقتصادية أدت إلى ظهور هذه الجماعات نتيجة الشعور بالحاجة إلى ضرورة الأخذ بأسلوب جديد من اجل الإصلاح والتجديد، ولهذا فمن وقت لأخر يظهر القائد الديني الذي يحاول تجميع الشباب حوله ويبدأ بتعليمهم مبادئ الدين الصحيح، ويوجههم إلى كيفية إصلاح الفرد وتقوية الأمة وعدالة الحكم ولهذا يمتلك الشباب الذي ينتمي إلى هذه الجماعات نزعات دينية جارفة وهنا يظهر العنف كأداة لتنفيذ الأوامر كما يظهر الفهم الخاطئ لبعض الأوامر والمبادئ الدينية حسب مقاصد القيادات الدينية ويبدأ الاحتكاك بين هذه الجماعات والأجهزة السياسية بالدولة. فالجماعات الدينية أو الحركات الدينية أذن هي اسم يطلق على كل فئة تحاول أن تتخذ لنفسها كيانا مستقلا ومختلفا في السلوك عما ألفه الناس من تقاليد وعادات، وظهور هذه الجماعات في المجتمعات الإسلامية هو ضرورة فرضتها طبيعة الدين الإسلامي حيث الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر وكذلك فرضتها الأوضاع الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية والسياسية التي تمر بها المجتمعات. وهذه الجماعات الدينية غالبا ما تنضم نفسها حول المعايير والمبادئ الدينية ورغم اشتراك هذه الجماعات مع الجماعات الأخرى من حيث طبيعة التنظيم ألا أن لها أهداف مختلفة وقد تكون لها مجموعة من المعايير المنظمة المختلفة أيضا. ولكن الجماعات الدينية كأ ي جماعات أخرى تحل الاختلافات الخاصة بتفسير وتطبيق أهدافها ومعاييرها وأدوارها فقد تميل إلى تكييف أو تعديل هذه الاختلافات والمعايير والأدوار حتى تتناسب مع الجماعات الأخرى. وعندما يزداد حجم الجماعة أو التنظيم الديني فأن درجة الاتفاق بين الأعضاء حول الأهداف والمعايير تقل إلى درجة كبيرة. ووفقا لفهم هذه الحركات ولكي نفهم أسباب ظهور العنف وتحديد مدى تأثيره على الفكر الحركي للحركات الإسلامية سنحاول تقصى الأسباب التي كانت وراء ظهوره على نمط من السلوك من قبل جماعات كان يفترض أن تكون مثالا للتسامح والعفو والرحمة لأنها وليدة قيم دينية اتسمت بإنسانيتها العالية لكن قبل ذلك نؤكد أن السبب الرئيسي وراء التطرف الديني هو سبب عقائدي فكري فتكون الأسباب الأخرى أسبابا مساعدة وثانوية فنحن لا ننكر دور المستوى المعاشي لأفراد الحركات الإسلامية مثلا في ممارسة العنف لكنه ليس سببا رئيسيا والا فأن زعيم القاعدة السابق أسامة بن لادن مليارديرا معروفا. وينتمي اغلب أفراد الحركات الإسلامية إلى الطبقة الوسطى والأمر نفسه بالنسبة للمستويات الدراسية فرائد البنا الأردني الذي قاد تفجير مدينة الحلة العراقية كان خريج كلية الحقوق وكان مرفها جدا وقد عاش فترة من الزمن في أمريكا، كما أن عمر احمد عبدالله الذي قاد تفجير مسرح في دولة قطر كان مهندسا إلكترونيا ويتقاضى راتبا شهريا عاليا. وأيضا ما تبقى من أسباب خارج دائرة الفكر والعقيدة فأنها أسبابا ثانوية قياسا إلى السبب الرئيسي وهذا الكلام تؤكده بيانات إحصائية ودراسات ميدانية جرت على عينات مختلفة من أفراد الحركات الإسلامية المتطرفة وقد تبين أن أفراد هذه الحركات يتمتعون بمستويات دراسية وعلمية جيدة وقد حاز أغلبهم على شهادات أكاديمية تراوحت بين الإعدادية والدكتوراه وهو مستوى يفترض أن يوفر قدرا لا بأس به من الوعي يحول دون اقتحام الموت والمخاطرة بالأرواح بينما الواقع خلاف ذلك، فكثير من العمليات الانتحارية قام بها أفراد حائزين على شهادات دراسية متقدمة ومواقع وظيفية مميزة مما يدفعنا للتنقيب عن أسباب أخرى عن هذه الظاهرة وينبغي دراسة الفهم العقائدي الذي يدفع هؤلاء إلى اقتحام الموت والزهد بالحياة رغم الرفاهية التي يتمتع بها هؤلاء الشباب.

Religious groups or religious movements, then, is a name given to each group that tries to take on for itself an independent entity and different in behavior from what people have understood in terms of traditions and customs, and the emergence of these groups in Islamic societies is a necessity imposed by the nature of the Islamic religion, where the order of good and forbidding the evil, as well as imposed by economic conditions Social, cultural and political societies go through. These religious groups often join themselves around religious standards and principles, and despite the participation of these groups with other groups in terms of the nature of the organization, they have different goals and may have a set of different organizational standards as well. However, religious groups, like any other groups, resolve differences in interpreting and implementing their goals, standards, and roles, and they may tend to adapt or modify these differences, norms, and roles to suit other groups. When the size of the group or religious organization increases, the degree of agreement among members about goals and standards decreases to a large degree .According to the understanding of these movements, and in order to understand the causes of the emergence of violence and determine the extent of its impact on the kinetic thought of the Islamic movements, we will try to investigate the reasons behind its appearance on a pattern of behavior by groups that were supposed to be an example of tolerance, forgiveness and mercy because they are the product of religious values characterized by their high humanity, but before that we emphasize The main reason behind religious extremism is an ideological reason, so the other reasons are auxiliary and secondary reasons. We do not deny the role of the standard of living for members of Islamic movements, for example, in practicing violence, but it is not a major reason.
