المستخلص: يعنى هذا البحث بدراسة لفظة (الأفصح) في تفسير الطبري من حيث المستوى الصوتي، فقد اعتمدت في البحث على المنهج العلمي حيث تتبعت كل لفظة من هذه الألفاظ، فوقفت على اللغات التي جاءت بها، والقراءات التي قرأت بها، وأقوال أهل اللغة، والأسباب التي دفعت الطبري للقول عنها أفصح، وخلص البحث إلى أن الاختلاف حول الفصاحة خلاف قديم جديد، كذلك اشتملت الدراسة على تحديد معايير الفصاحة وشروطها، مبينة عناية علماء العربية المتقدمين بالألفاظ الفصيحة، وعد بعضهم معايير الفصاحة ألا تكون الكلمة مبتذلة، ولا مستثقلة، ولا نابية في السمع، ومتوسطة بين قلة الحروف وكثرتها، يضاف إلى ذلك عدم الغرابة وعدم تنافر حروف الكلمة، مع اعتبار لفصاحة المتكلم، وبينت آراء العلماء فيه. وكذلك بينت الأصول والمنطلقات وقواعد للترجيح، التي في ضوئها تترجح لفظة الأفصح عند القائلين بها، ولعل من أهم تلك القواعد والأصول: ترجيح لغة قريش على غيرها ولغة الحجاز على لغة تميم واللغات الأخرى. وترجيح قراءة الجمهور على القراءات المخالفة لها. والترجيح وفق القاعدة النحوية المعمول بها.

This research is concerned with the phonological study of the term Alafsah (the most eloquent) according to Tabiry`s interpretation. I relied in the research on the scientific process where I traced each one of these terms, halted on the languages that brought them, the readings in which they were read, the sayings of those native to the language, and the reasons that prompted AL-Tabiry to name them the most eloquent. The research concluded that the disagreement about eloquence has been an everlasting dispute, the study also included defining the criteria and conditions of eloquence, highlighting advanced scholars` thorough interest in eloquent expressions, some of which considered the standards of eloquence for a word to not be vulgar, nor heavy ,nor obscene upon hearing ,balancing between the scarcity of letters and their abundance, in addition to absence of strangeness and incompatibility of the letters of the word ,taking into account the eloquence of the speaker; showcasing the opinions of scholars in the matter. I have also defined the origins, premises and the rules of favoring through which the most eloquent expressions are propelled to the speaker, and perhaps the most important of those rules and origins: favoring the Quraysh`s dialect over others and Hijaz dialect over Temim and other dialects, favoring the readings of the majority over the opposed readings, and favoring based on the grammatical rules applied.
