Lung cancer mainly occurs in older people. Most people diagnosed with lung cancer are 65 or older. The essential objective in the treatment of any cancer is to improve the quality of life of the patient, to cure the cancer when possible. Therefore, Every physician should routinely assess the quality of life of his/her patient before starting cancer treatment, since quality of life represents an important component in the disease’s management and decisions regarding further treatment. A scoping review was carried out with the purpose of to characterize scientific publications on the quality of life of patients with lung cancer in order to examine the existing body of knowledge of the subject, focusing on assessment instruments and methodological aspects. as articles were searched for in various databases (NCBI , Medline, SCIELO, PubMed).We included 16 publications published between 2007 and 2020, which included (n = 08) a cross sectional design . Five different instruments were used. A difference in the methodology adopted in the studies, created a variation in the results of quality of life. A methodological standardization to evaluate the quality of life of lung cancer patients and specific instrument are recommended.
