المستخلص: Helicobacter pylori is a major global gastric bacterial pathogen that effect more than 70% in developing countries, H.pylori is principle cause of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric cancer. However, local information on the infection epidemiology is uncommon in Libya. This is a laboratory study amid to estimate the prevalence rate of H.pylori among 495 cases, 238 of them are male and 257 are female with age range from 2 to 68 years in Tobruk city, Libya The results showed that the prevalence of H.pylori by gender whereas the infected women were more than infected man with 49.4% and 41.6 respectively was. also the results illustrated the prevalence of H.pylori by the age groups whereas the infection in the age groups between 31– 40 years old were the highest with 15.3% while the prevalence decreased after age 40 to only justone H. pyloria positive patient 0.2 in age group older than 70.
