تعاني البيئة بمختلف مكوناتها الطبيعية والبشرية مشاكل كثيرة ومتفاقمة، ولان معظم هذه المشاكل والقضايا ذات أبعاد جغرافية مختلفة، حيث كانت منذ القدم العلاقة بين الجغرافيا والبيئة قوية ومتنامية وقد ازدادت في الفترة الأخيرة تعمقا نتيجة الاتجاهات العلمية الحديثة للجغرافيا، وهذا جله في سعي الجغرافيا للإسهام في تحديد المشاكل البيئية التي يعاني منها الإنسان والمجتمع، والقيام بدور مهم في حلها. وانطلاقا من هذه المعطيات وإسهاما في تدعيم الوعي البيئي محليا وعالميا، وإظهار دور الجغرافيا في حل قضايا البيئة وحمايتها والاستغلال الأمثل للموارد الطبيعية، وهذا ما تهدف إليه هذه الورقة البحثية، إضافة إلى ذلك تقديم صورة واضحة عن الموارد الطبيعية وما يهددها، وذلك من اجل العمل على الحد من هذه الأخطار ومحاولة معالجة نتائجها السلبية. حيث تحاول هذه الدراسة أن تجيب على مدى إسهامات الجغرافيا في حل المشكلات البيئية، بالإضافة إلى دور الدراسات الجغرافية في الإشارة إلى التغيرات المحتملة التي قد تصيب الأنظمة البيئية؟ يعتمد هذا البحث على المنهج الوصفي وإتباع أسلوب الاستقراء في تحليل البيانات، حيث من الواضح أن هذا المنهج يهدف إما إلى رصد ظاهرة أو موضوع محدد بهدف فهم المضمون العام، بالإضافة إلى تقويم وضع معين لأغراض علمية. لقد أسهمت الجغرافيا في تقديم الحلول المناسبة لكثير من المشكلات البيئية الحديثة، خاصة تلك المشاكل التي يتعرض لها الغلاف الحيوي، لان تلك المشكلات لا يمكن حلها إلا من خلال دراسة العلاقات المتبادلة بين مختلف العناصر. وتتجلى أهمية الجغرافيا ودورها في حماية الموارد وعمليات ترشيد استغلالها، ومن ذلك دورها في حماية الموارد المائية، ودراسة العلاقة بين العناصر المختلفة والوسط المحيط، وحماية الهواء والغلاف الجوي من التلوث والإنذار المبكر للعواقب الناتجة عن ذلك ووضع الحلول والمقترحات الكفيلة للحد من الأخطار البيئية التي تهدد العالم بأسره.

Based on these data and as a contribution from us in strengthening environmental awareness locally and internationally, and showing the role of geography in solving environmental issues and protecting them and optimizing the exploitation of natural resources, and this is what this research paper aims to, in addition to providing a clear picture of natural resources and what threatens them, in order to work On reducing these risks and trying to address their negative consequences, as this study tries to answer the extent of the contributions of geography to solving environmental problems, in addition, can geographical studies indicate possible changes that may affect ecosystems? This research relies on the descriptive approach and adopting the method of extrapolation in data analysis, as it is clear that this approach aims either to monitor a specific phenomenon or topic in order to understand the general content, or its primary goal may be to evaluate a specific situation for scientific purposes. Geography has contributed to providing appropriate solutions to many modern environmental problems, especially those that the geographic envelope is exposed to, because these problems can only be solved by studying the interrelationships between the various geographical elements. The importance geography and its great role in protecting resources and rationalizing their exploitation is evident, including its role in protecting water resources, studying the relationship between the hydrosphere and the various elements of the surrounding environment, protecting the air and the resulting consequences, and developing solutions and proposals to reduce risks. That threaten the whole world.
