المستخلص: Our ancient heritage in general, and geographical heritage in particular, has been plagued by the beginnings of falsification and distortion, and hardly any book is free from that such as converting ya to baa or ghain to ayn. As for distortion, it takes place in the form of convergent letters; such as the transformation of the waw into a raa, or thaal into a zai, or a daal into a raa, or a daal into a lam, or a nun into a zai, and distortion may be by an increase or decrease in speech, and it may be by changing some of its words or carrying it against what they are intended for.
