What amazes us and stirs our admiration is that these poets were not confined to the Urdu or Hindustani language only, but most of them had a great knowledge of the Arabic language as well. These pioneers are distinguished by their unique quality in the field in which they are famous. They have left us recall their memory over the ages and ages. Among these prominent figures in the world of Persian, Urdu, Hindustani, and Arabic poetry was Sheikh Abul-Hasan Yameen al-Din Khusraw, better known as Amir Khusraw, who had the wonderful title Parrot of India. And because of his remarkable impact on the development of Urdu literature, he is called by another title, “Father of Urdu Literature.” |
