|a استندت تركيا على الإرث العثماني للولوج داخل القارة الإفريقية من خلال تاريخ الخلافة العثمانية في شمال إفريقيا ومنطقة القرن الإفريقي ولذالك نسجت علاقات وطيدة مع الدول الإفريقية شملت الجوانب السياسية، الاقتصادية، الاجتماعية، الثقافية، الدبلوماسية وحتى العسكرية، مستخدمة القوة الناعمة والصلبة في آن واحد وبالتالي أصبح لتركيا موطئ قدم في القارة الإفريقية على غرار القوة الإقليمية والدولية الأخرى ومنه وجدت تركيا في إفريقيا البديل الاستراتيجي الذي عوضها عن الدخول للاتحاد الأوروبي.

|b The present paper discusses the AK Party Government policy toward Africa. Thanks to the Ottoman control of the northern and eastern parts of Africa in the 16th to 20th centuries, the AK Party Government built its foreign policy on panoply of relations that span from cultural to diplomatic to economic and even military with the African states. The Turkish involvement in Africa came as a compensation for the inability to have access to the European Union as a permanent member. This is considered to be a strategic alternative.
