المستخلص: Obesity has become a worldwide epidemic as far as the developed countries are concerned, as well as the majority of the developing countries, where the consequences are more serious due to the quality of care and the amputated healthy accommodation. Many organizations have been alarmed as to undertake an immediate action aiming at hindering this epidemic via the elaboration of strategies for both fighting and prevention so as to stop its emergence. This article aims to highlight the repercussions of obesity on psychosocial representations resulting from stigmatization, discrimination, social inequalities and even exclusion and rejection of the individual; and on the genesis of the various pathologies as well as the increase in morbidity and mortality associated with it. It also highlights the effect of a sedentary lifestyle and the importance of physical activity to prevent and fight against overweight and obesity, and therefore, prevent the various complications associated with it; to finish with the main recommendations to achieve it.
