المستخلص: في ضوء الإعجاب الذي سجله الفكر الغربي بالنص الخلدوني، منذ بواكير القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي، تعرف الفكر العربي الحديث إلى هذا النص مع مفتتح القرن العشرين، فأصبح ابن خلدون في قلب اهتمامات المفكرين العرب المعاصرين؛ سواء فيما يتعلق بالعناية بمضامين فكره أو بطريقة تفكيره وتعبيره، إلى حد أن العديد من هؤلاء الباحثين الذين انصبت دراساتهم على فكر ابن خلدون، شكلوا تيارا فكريا، عرف أصحابه على الساحة العربية باسم "الخلدونيين". ولما كان الاهتمام بالنص الخلدوني قد ارتبط بظهور الحركات الإصلاحية العربية، وفي إطار مساعيها الرامية إلى الانعتاق من مخلفات عهود الانحطاط، التي أملت عليها الاستثمار في رصيد التراث الفكري العربي، يبدو أنها لم تجد في خضم ذلك التراث ما يتلاءم ومشروعها الإحيائي التجديدي أفضل من تراث ابن خلدون، ليتحول بذلك "النص الخلدوني" إلى ظاهرة ثقافية لافتة للنظر في الفكر العربي؛ ومحلا لتجاذبات بين فريقين من الباحثين؛ فريق يرمي إلى إفراغ النص الخلدوني في قوالب حداثية، وفريق يروم أن يسبغ على النص عباءة الأصالة بما يحفظ له انتماءه إلى الحضارة التي أفرزته.

In the light of the admiration of Western thought for the Khaldunian text ever since the early nineteenth century, modem Arab thought became acquainted with this text by the beginning of the twentieth century. Ibn Khaldun thus became at the heart of the preoccupations of contemporary Arab intellectuals whether for the contents of his thought or for his method of thought and expression, to the extent that a large number of those scholars dealing with Ibn Khaldun’s thought constituted a current of thought whose members were known on the Arab scene as “the Khaldunians”. The attention given to the Khaldunian text was related to the appearance of Arab reformation movements as part of their efforts to emancipate from the consequences of the ages of decline which dictated investing in the treasure of Arab intellectual legacy. Within this legacy, it seems that they found nothing better suited for their revival and renewal project than Ibn Khaldun’s heritage, so that “the Khaldunian text” became a conspicuous cultural phenomenon in Arab thought and the object of conflict between two groups of scholars: one that aims at pouring the Khaldunian text into modernist moulds and another that intends to endow the text with the mantle of authenticity to preserve its belonging to the civilization that had given birth to it.
