المستخلص: Art object, witness of the era and the willingness of men to leave concrete tracks of their existence and their lifestyle. The book has a long story behind it, difficult to retrace for the one trying a linear methodological approach, because a big number of ancients manuscripts are not precisely date stamped, or their dating have been falsified in purpose, writing being an important issue for religions, politics and sociology. From wood tablets, to papyrus volume then in parchment, to codex and printed book of Gutenberg and incunabula, we offer with this contribution in pictures, the sharing of an esthetic emotion time, that we are closing by another form of images, the book representation through some famous quotes.

Objet d’art, témoin de son époque et de la volonté des hommes de laisser des traces concrètes de leur existence et de leur mode de vie, le livre a une longue histoire derrière lui. Difficile à retracer pour celui qui tente une approche méthodologique linéaire, du fait qu’un grand nombre de manuscrits anciens ne sont pas datés avec précision, quand leur datation n’a pas été falsifiée sciemment l’écrit étant au centre d’important enjeux religieux, politiques et sociologiques. Des tablettes en bois, au volumen en papyrus puis en parchemin, au codex, et enfin au livre imprimé de Gutenberg en passant par les Incunables, ces livres nés au berceau de l’imprimerie, nous proposons à travers cette contribution en images, le partage d’un moment d’émotion esthétique, que nous clôturerons par une autre forme d’images, les représentations du livre à travers quelques citations célèbres.
