المستخلص: Les paysans et les ouvriers étaient les plus touchés par la colonisation de peuplement. Éparpillés à travers les champs, loin des influences syndicales, ils étaient soumis au double dictat de l’administration coloniale et des propriétaires terriens (colons et Algériens). L’arrivé du Front populaire au pouvoir en France en 1936, va changer la donne. Les actions de mobilisation initiées par les émigrés, par les centrales syndicales à l’instar de la CGT et par les partis de gauche vont propulser ces ouvriers vers un mouvement gréviste sans précédent et qui avait pris dans certains cas un caractère insurrectionnel. Au prix de grands sacrifices, les ouvriers agricoles avaient obtenus quelques réformes et acquis, mais vite abandonnés après la chute du Front populaire.

The peasants and workers were the most affected by the settlement colonization. Scattered across their fields far from syndical influences, they were subjugated to the double dictate of the colonial administration and land owners (colonists and Algerians). However, the data will change when the Popular Front took power in France in 1936. The mobilisation actions initiated by the immigrants, by syndical centrals namely CGT and the left wing political parties will boost these workers towards an unprecedented strike movement , which took in certain cases an insurrectional character. The price paid by the farm-labourers to gain some reforms was too heavy and costy but, unluckily, were fast abandoned after the fall of the Popular Front.
