المستخلص: تحتل الإشاعة موقعًا محوريا في رواية "لوعة الغاوية" للروائي السعودي عبده خال؛ فهي المحرك الأساسي لسلسلة من الأحداث المفصلية التي حكمت مسار الرواية وتركت آثارها العميقة في بنى شخصياتها ويمكن الزعم - بكثير من الاطمئنان إلى أن الإشاعة تحولت - في هذا العمل الروائي من مجرد حدث ضمن سلسلة أحداث الرواية إلى بنية سردية عامة انتظمت مختلف عناصر العمل الروائي وأثرت فيها وتأثرت بها. في هذه الدراسة نتحرك في اتجاهين متكاملين يعنى الأول بمراجعة أدبيات الإشاعة في علمي النفس والاجتماع، لاستخلاص ملامح بنيتها السيكولوجية الاجتماعية، وتوظيفها في فهم الإشاعة الجوهرية التي تأسست عليها هذه الرواية كيف نشأت؟ وما العوامل التي ساعدت على انتشارها؟ ولماذا كانت بتلك القوة التي حملت مجتمعا بأكمله للتحرك ضد الشخصية التي ألبست ثوبها؟ ويشتغل الاتجاه الثاني على رصد الوظائف السردية التي اضطلعت بها الإشاعة في إشادة معمار الرواية على مستويات الشخصيات بسماتها الثابتة والمتحولة، والحبكة بما تتضمنه من سلسلة أحداث متعاقبة وعقدة وحل. لقد أدرك الروائي السعودي عبده خال أن الإشاعة -بما تنطوي عليه من غموض وإثارة قادرة على تأمين بنية سردية شائقة، مرنة، ثرية، وقادرة في الوقت نفسه على الكشف عن نفسيات الفاعلين الاجتماعيين، وإضاءة قوانين الفعل الاجتماعي التي تنزلق فيه مصادر القوة - في أحيان كثيرة من المتن والمركز إلى الحواشي والأطراف.

The rumor takes a central place in the novel Lawaat Al-Ghawia, by the Saudi novelist Abdu Khal, as it acts as the main driver for a series of crucial events that govern the track of the novel development and leaves deep impactson the structures of its characters. It can be claimed, to a great extent of certainty, that the rumor in this narrative work turned from a mere event that occupies a minor position in a series of eventsinto an overriding narrative structure within which all other elements of this work fell into place and on which they influenced and were influenced by in return. In this paper we follow two lines of inquiry that are complementary to each other: the first takes on reviewing the literature of "rumor" in sciences of psychology and sociology in an attempt to construe the features of its psychological and social structure, and to employ this knowledge in understanding the main rumor on which this whole novelis built: How does it come into existence? What are the factors that fuel it and help in spreading it around? And why has it been so strong that it drove a whole society to act against the person by which he was stigmatized? The second line of inquiry that this paper engages in is exploring the narrative functions that the rumor assumes and how they contribute to weaving the texture of the novel at various levels, the characters with their constant and changing characteristics and the plot consisting of consecutive events that culminate in a knot and accelerate towards an end. The Saudi novelist AbdoKhalwas totally aware that the rumor – for what it enjoys of mystery and excitement elements, is capable of providing a narrative structure that is interesting, flexible, rich and more importantly sufficient to shed a bright light on the psychologies of those social actors and the rules of social interaction where sources of power or influence, in many occasions, escape from the center to the periphery of the society.
