المستخلص: إن كتاب البابا فراي فرانسيسكو أنطونيو سيلفسثر، المعنون "التأسيس التاريخي للمستشفيات الصليب المقدس بالجزائر" كان موضوع اهتمام وبحث منذ منتصف القرن السابع عشر، كمرجع أساسي حول تاريخ تأسيس المستشفيات المسيحية في المناطق العثمانية وحركة الصليب المقدس "ترينيداد" في تحرير الأسرى بالجزائر. إن اهتمام هذا الأخير بتأسيس مستشفيات الجزائر، كان حاجة ماسة مقابل الحالة المزرية للأسرى المسيحيين. ونشير إلى أن ملاحظاته عن الحكم العثماني بالجزائر تجعله واحدا من رواد القرن السابع عشر في طرح هذا الموضوع.
في هذا الصدد نحاول عرض ورصد مختلف الآراء في كتاب البابا سليفستر، الذي يبقى إلى حد ما مجهول، بهدف دراسة ما تحمله من سياق تاريخي، والتعريف بحلقة متميزة في تاريخ الجزائر وإسبانيا في القرن السابع عشر، محكية بريشته.

Pope Frey Francisco Antonio Sylvester's book entitled "The Historic Establishment of Holy Cross Hospitals in Algeria" has been the subject of interest and research since the mid-seventeenth century as a primary reference on the history of the establishment of Christian hospitals in the Ottoman regions and the Holy Cross Movement "Trinidad" in the liberation of prisoners in Algeria. The latter's interest in establishing hospitals in Algeria was a dire need against the dire situation of Christian prisoners. We note that his remarks on Ottoman rule in Algeria make him one of the pioneers of the seventeenth century in raising this subject.
In this regard, we try to present and monitor the various views in Pope Sylvester's book, which remains to some extent unknown, to study the historical context it bears and introduce a distinct episode in the history of Algeria and Spain in the seventeenth century, narrating through his pen.
