تعد الصناعات الحرفية الصورة الحقيقية للواقع الصناعي البسيط والتراثي التاريخي للتطور في اي مكان تظهر فيه. ولعل أغلب مدن العالم تمتاز بصناعات حديثة معينة قد تختلف عن مدن أخرى كونها ارتبطت هذه الصناعات بواقع بيئي وتاريخي أسهم في ظهورها وتطورها حتى أصبح البعض منها له مكانة بارزة في اقتصاد المدينة سواء بالنسبة لأسواقها أو للعاملين فيها. وقد تتشابه هذه الصناعات في مدن معينه اما لتقاربها او لتشابه بيئتها. وفي كل الاحوال أن هذه الصناعة تمثل حقبة زمنية معينة بعضا منها استمر في العمل والوجود والبعض الأخر بأقل وذهب لعدم القدرة في مواكبه التطورات الحديثة للصناعة نفسها. مدينة الحلة أحد مدن العراق التابعة لمحافظة بابل في منطقة الفرات الاوسط، ظهرت فيها مجموعة من الصناعات الحرفية التي لا تزال بعضا منها له وجودا من أسواق المحافظة والعراق كالصناعات النسيجية. تتأثر هذه الصناعات بمدى الربح الذي يجنيه صاحب الصناعة وكذلك الدعم الحكومي لها. فأن فقدت هاتين الميزتين غابت واختفت كما هو الحال في صناعة تنور الطين والمراوح اليدوية وسلال الفواكه وأسره النوم. تمتاز مدينة الحلة بأنها مدينة أثرية وأن تطور الصناعات الحرفية فيها يعد سوقا بما يتلاءم وحاجات الزائرين إليها. إذ تعد هذه الصناعة واجهة حضارية لواقع العراق والمدينة وكذلك لاقتصادها.
