This article explores the dialectical relationship between the historicity of literature and the literariness of history, analyzing the boundaries and mutual influences between the two fields. The study assumes that literature, despite its fictional nature, always bears traces of the historical reality in which it emerges, while history, despite its documentary orientation, inevitably incorporates narrative techniques that lend it a literary dimension. An analytical textual approach was adopted, comparing historical documents with literary texts, focusing on how literature utilizes historical heritage to construct meaning and how historians borrow narrative strategies to make their discourse more persuasive and impactful. Findings indicate that literature preserves the human dimension of history by conveying individual and collective experiences in a compelling narrative form, whereas history provides literature with referential realism that anchors it within collective memory. The research also demonstrates that the boundaries between literature and history are not rigid but dynamic zones of interaction producing hybrid texts that defy strict disciplinary classification. Results show that this interplay opens new perspectives for academic inquiry in both literary criticism and historical studies by revealing the complex nature of human knowledge. The study concludes that the relationship between literature and history is not one of subordination but of complementarity, where each enriches the other, and that understanding this dialectic fosters critical reading that acknowledges each field’s specificity while recognizing the inevitable interplay between them.
