|a يتناول هذا البحث كتابات لمحمد فريد غابت عنها الأضواء، فلم تحظ من قبل-في حدود علمنا –بالتناول من جانب أحد والعرض لما تضمنته من موضوعات بالقطع تعد مهمة. وقد جاءت تلك الكتابات في مجلة "الموسوعات" التي أنشأها فريد مع آخرين عام 1898م. وقد عُني البحث في البداية بالعرض بشكل سريع لبعض المعلومات الخاصة بمجلة "الموسوعات"، التي كانت بحق وعاء معرفيًا مهمًا في الفترة القصيرة التي صدرت خلالها (1898-1901م)، حيث أشير إلى نشأتها، وهيئة تحريرها، وأسماء أبرز من استكتبتهم بين الحين والآخر، والموضوعات التي كانت محل اهتماماتها...إلخ. أما الكتابات موضع الدراسة، فهي، في كثير منها، تدور حول الإمبريالية الغربية والتوسع الاستعماري، سواء في أفريقيا أو في آسيا، كما يتناول بعضها الآخر موضوعات أخرى مختلفة. وفضلا عن الأهمية المعرفية التي ستظهر جلية لتلك الكتابات، فإنها توقفنا على جوانب جديدة ومواقف لكاتبها لم تكن معروفة عنه من قبل بالقدر الكافي. وفي نهاية البحث تأتي الخاتمة التي تتضمن أهم ما تم استخلاصه منه، والهوامش، ثم الملاحق التي اشتملت على نماذج من الكتابات المشار إليها لفريد وعُرض لها عبر صفحات البحث، وأخيرًا الببليوجرافيا التي تضم ثبتًا بأسماء ما اعتمد عليه من مصادر ومراجع مختلفة.

|b This Paper deals basically with the forgotten writings of Mohamed Farid which none of the researchers- as far as one knows- dealt with before. Farid’s Writings in question appeared in Encyclopedias; a magazine founded by Farid and others in (1898). In this respect, the researcher highlights some important points concerning the magazine and how it really deserved to be a good knowledge container in its short span of life (1898-1901). Its foundation, Editorial Board, those chosen to write and the main topics tackled, etc. Regarding the writings under study, Western Imperialism and colonization purposes in in Africa or Asia foregrounded most of these writings. Other Writings dealt with other different topics. Additionally, these writings revealed some unknown aspects and attitudes about their authors as well as their knowledge contribution. The conclusion sums up the reached result, the notes and the indexes, which include selections of Farid’s writings, referred to. And finally a list of Bibliography for the sources used in this Paper.
