المستخلص: تعد أشجار النخيل من أهم وأقدم الأشجار المثمرة في مصر والعراق وبلاد العرب، وكانت تزرع بكثرة في مصر أو تستورد ويتم أقلمتها مع التربة المصرية، وتظهر أشجار النخيل على الآثار المصرية القديمة والتي تعود للقرن الخامس عشر قبل الميلاد، وتتميز باستخدام كل جزء فيها سواء للغذاء أو الدواء أو المنتجات الصناعية المختلفة، ويتناول هذا البحث المنتج الأهم لهذه الشجرة وهو التمر، الذي استخدم كطعام وكأحد أنواع النبيذ فضلا عن دخوله في بعض التركيبات الدوائية، كما استخدم نوى التمر كعلف للحيوانات، ويلقي البحث الضوء على تجارة التمور في مصر إبان العصر الروماني؛ من حيث أماكن انتاج التمور، وأهم الأنواع المنتشرة منها في مصر، والمكاييل المستخدمة في قياسها، وأسعار التمور حسب أنواعها وجودتها وفقا لما ورد في عقود بيع التمور أو إيجار بساتين النخيل أو الخطابات الخاصة، ثم يتطرق البحث لتجارة التمور الداخلية عبر المحطات الجمركية، وكميات تصديرها، وأهم مناطق التصدير والاستيراد، ثم يختتم بالضرائب المفروضة على تجارة التمور في مصر خلال العصر الروماني.

Palm trees are among the most important and oldest fruit trees in Egypt, Iraq and the Arab countries, and they were widely planted in Egypt or imported and adapted to the Egyptian soil. Palm trees appear on the ancient Egyptian monuments dating back to the fifteenth century BC, and they are characterized by the use of every part of it, whether for food or Medicine or various industrial products, and this research deals with the most important product of this tree, which is dates, which were used as food and as one of the types of wine in addition to its entry into some pharmaceutical formulations. The date kernels were also used as animal feed. The research sheds light on the date trade in Egypt during the Roman era; In terms of the places of production of dates, and the most important types of them spread in Egypt, In terms of the places of production of dates, the most important types of them spread in Egypt, the weights used to measure them, the prices of dates according to their types and quality, according to what is stated in the contracts for selling dates, renting palm orchards or private letters, then the research deals with the internal trade of dates through customs stations, and the quantities of their export, and the most important areas of export and import, and then concludes with the taxes imposed on the date trade in Egypt during the Roman era.
