قدم الفلسطينيون إلى دولة تشيلي منذ أواخر القرن التاسع عشر وهم لا يملكون شيئا من المال، لكنهم استطاعوا خلال فترة وجيزة من الزمن أن يكونوا ذوي شأن مهم في البلاد، حيث أصبح لهم دور بارز بالمساهمة في خدمة المجتمع التشيلي على الأصعدة كافة: اقتصاديا وسياسيا واجتماعيا وثقافيا. وما كان هذا ليحصل، لولا المجهودات الكبيرة التي بذلوها لتحقيق ذلك الهدف. ولبيان ذلك، استخدم الباحثان المنهج التاريخي والمنهج الوصفي التحليلي. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج منها: أن الهجرة الفلسطينية إلى دولة تشيلي لم تكن ترفا اجتماعيا أو اقتصاديا من جانب المهاجرين الفلسطينيين، حيث امتاز هؤلاء بالحصافة في اختيارها كدولة هاجروا إليها، على الرغم من أنها لم تكن دولة ثرية بما فيه الكفاية مع وفرة مواردها الطبيعية من جهة، ولأنهم كانوا يمتلكون القابلية والقدرة على العمل في بيئة مغايرة للبيئة الاجتماعية التي عاشوا فيها في وطنهم الأم من جهة ثانية، وأن رواد الجالية الفلسطينية الأوائل الذين استقروا في تشيلي، ورغم ما عانوه من متاعب وتمييز من قبل السكان التشيليين، خلال المرحلة الأولى من الإقامة فيها قد نجحوا في ترسيخ أقدامهم من جهة، والعمل في مهن قليلة الشأن ومتعبة لكنها كانت مربحة لهم، وحققت لهم الحصول على المال الكافي لفتح محلات تجارية، استطاعوا من خلالها منافسة التجار التشيليين من جهة أخرى.
The Palestinians came to Chile since the late nineteenth century without any money, but they were able to be of significant importance in the country within a short period of time, as they had a prominent role in contributing to the service of Chilean society at all levels: economically, politically, socially and culturally. This would not have happened without the great efforts they made to achieve this goal. To demonstrate this, the researchers used the historical method and the descriptive analytical method. The study reached a number of results, including: the Palestinian immigration to the state of Chile was not a social or economic luxury on the part of the Palestinian immigrants, as they were prudent in choosing the country to which they immigrated, even though it was not a sufficiently rich country with its abundant natural resources on the one hand, and because they had the ability and willingness on to work in an environment that is different from the social environment where they lived in their motherland, on the other hand. Regarding the first pioneers of the Palestinian community who settled in Chile, they succeeded in establishing their own identity and working in professions of little importance and tiring, despite the hardships and discrimination they suffered from the Chilean people during the first phase of their residence. Thus, working was profitable for them, and they earned enough money to open shops, through which they were able to compete with Chilean merchants.
