المستخلص: تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى الوقوف عند بعض الإشكاليات في باب المصطلح عند المحدثين، ولا سيما مصطلحات (الحركة/الحرف) و(صوامت/ مصوتات) وما شابهها. وركزت في الإجابة على سؤالين، الأول: ما العلل في أسباب التسمية للمصطلحات؟ والآخر: كيف يمكن أن نقف على جهودهم المصطلحية؟ يتناول هذا البحث الترجمات العربية للمصطلحين الغربيين (Voeels, consonants) أو (voyelles, consonnes)، ولعل تعدد استعمالاتها بمفاهيم شتى تختلف باختلاف النظرة المنهجية لها، وقد ترتب على ذلك أن خلط بعض الباحثين بين هذه المفاهيم كما سيتضح لاحقا. وقد قسمت البحث على تمهيد ومبحثين وخاتمة. تناولت في التمهيد: إشكالية المصطلح، وذكرت في المبحث الأول: مصطلحي (الحركة والحرف) في ضوء المقابلة والتأصيل، أما المبحث الثاني فقد خصصته للوقوف على مصطلحي (الصوائت والصوامت) في ضوء المقابلة والتأصيل، وانتهيت بخاتمة تناولت فيها أهم النتائج التي توصل إليه البحث.

This study seeks to identify some of the problems in the term at the modernists, especially the terms (movement/ letter) and (silent/ votes) and the like. it focused in the answer to two questions, the first: What are the causes for naming these terms? And the other: how can we stand on their terminological efforts? This research deals with the Arabic translations of the two terms Western (Vowels, consonants) or (voyelles, consonnes), and it may be versatile in different concepts vary according to the methodological view of them, and has resulted in the confusion of some researchers between these concepts as will be clear later. The research was divided on a preamble, two subjects and a conclusion. I dealt with in the preface: the problematic of the term, and mentioned in the first topic: the terms (movement and letter) in the light of interview and rooting), while the second section has devoted to identify the terms (sound and silent) in the light of the interview and rooting, and ended with a conclusion dealing with the most important findings of the study.
